What you're describing here is what used to be called an "Intermission". Trolley would come down the aisle, ice creams would be purchased (or popcorn, chocolate, drink), then back to your seat for the rest of the movie. Stopped being a thing in the mid-eighties.

"Wanted: Monty Mole" (WIP) on Acorn Electron. Took longer than expected because movement code is quite convoluted. Not perfect yet. Slowed down to target 25fps. Funny quirks in original game (and in mine): 1. No eye when walking right, 2. Walks slower on some tiles because constantly "falling"

Reminds of a time I went a couple of towns over and a kid was saying "Hello, Michael!" to people who walked past. When I walked past and he said it to me, and I said "Yes?". He looked at his friend and seemed genuinely surprised and asked me if I was called Michael. Still no idea what was going on.

Most people mark time by picturing old apartments and relationships, but I remember the old desktops I ran. OS/2 was a good operating system in its day, but I remember getting a new hard drive, doing a fresh install and looking at this screen and saying: nah. Good while it lasted. #operatingsystems

I typed in one called Death Valley and expanded the hell out of it on my Beeb. It was a downward scrolling game. Asterisks to the left and right with random positioning to give you a tunnel to fly down in your capital I. 10 year old me must have spent hour after hour on that thing.
