Same energy as this classic:
An image of a large clear plastic sphere filled with many tiny blue spheres.

Below is a comment thread:
"This is a model of how many Earths can fit inside the sun."

"Damn, that's gotta be at least 12"

"Well you're not wrong"

Tech bros are constantly "inventing" trains and public bus service, so I am not terribly surprised they are getting around to "inventing" the public library

The idea that there is no absolute point, that speed and motion are always relative still twists my mind into knots. I understand it logically, but it goes against every intuitive concept I have.

Not to mention the fact that Belarus only produces about half of what the US currently imports per year. Are they going to magically double their output?

AI Boosterism and AI Doomerism are not two opposing narratives. They are the same narrative; two sides of the same coin, intentionally obscuring the fact that the current AI wave is NOT inevitable.

That is exactly right. The "inevitable" claim being pushed is meant to make people feel helpless. I am pleased to see the counter-idea of encouraging small personal actions getting significant traction.

The critical perspective on counter-arguments about Google and GNIS is that a society organized around blindly following automation and treating any information that is extruded by an information system as de facto authoritative is exactly the problem that critical tech scholars are raising about AI

The damage the USA has done to the relationship with Canada is generational. We "noisy Canadians" will not forget that Trump is the symptom, not the cause

This isn't the first time the USA has placed 50% tariffs on Canada. In 1890, the USA's Tariff Act was touted as a way to build up American industry, but the true goal was forcing the annexation of Canada. It backfired and made Canada stronger. This is the story. 📸 LoC 🧵1/10
Political cartoon criticizing the Republican platform for favoring untaxed whiskey (jug labeled "Untaxed Whiskey 20¢ Gal.") while presenting war‑taxed common cloth with an 89% tariff, highlighting perceived hypocrisy.

Yes, his qualifications are impressive. This thread is dealing with his concrete actions since becoming prime minister. If you care about the topic, it would be best to engage with the actual critiques instead of appealing to authority.

So many well-intentioned anti-Trump Americans are delusional about the state of their country. They think all they need to do is get Trump out next election and elect a status quo, party-approved Democrat as president and everything will go back to "normal".

Carney was absolutely desperate to appease Trump and his cronies and we were only saved because Team Trump decided to demand a re-write of all Canadian law back to our Constitution because they don't like all this French language stuff we do.
010
RhetoricX 🇨🇦 @rhetoricx.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
This what I think as well. Carney was fully ready to sign a terrible deal where we gave concessions to the US in exchange for them NOT doing bad things to us. It was like paying the mob "protection money". We were only saved from this by the US pushing so far that even Carney couldn't fold.

Once again, American reporting, even from an amazing organization like ProPublica, misses the point. The tarriffs are not the cause; they are a symptom. We Canadians are defending against an American government that has repeatedly and consistently threatened our sovereignty.
