I hear you, and I say this only because I truly care: Listen, and understand. That TikTok algorithm is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop…ever, until you are hooked.

I have to stay away from it. The algorithm figures out very quickly what activates your dopamine and optimizes its delivery cadence until it gets the longest possible attention out of you and it is very, very good. Don't underestimate it.

“This is your brain on drugs” hands down. The pathos of “I learned it by watching you!” was the favorite of theater kids, sure. For a lot of us growing up in the 80's and 90's, TNG was a way to escape a traumatic childhood for a little while every week. I thought I was alone in that until I kept hearing my story repeated in others' over and over again. My love for TNG is because it saved my life, not because of nostalgia.

I remember struggling with that, too. Before I got the Sternbach prints I would sketch what I thought the layout was and I never could make it work. Now we know why!

It's frustrating that Meyers never really learned the lesson the backlash was trying to teach him to change his problematic assessment of the film. Meyers ended up being fine. He went from 4.5m followers to 3.9m and he's back to pumping out light fare content for his subscribers. Oh well.
