Yes! The story about Glen Frey hearing Jackson Browne struggling to finish Take It Easy is classic. 🎸

Indeed. And, the best year to plant seasonal vegetables that'll feed family is this season. This year. Now. 💚 🌱

Yep. Great advice. If ya want something then make it happen. Life's too short, & too unpredictable to just wait around. Get at it. 😍

Everything is stacked against you. It's how it is, & likely always will be. Here in AU, IMHO NSW State Government only has Sydney's back & the regions suffer as a result. If any NSW region can say no to Sydney it's Newcastle. #NRL #GrandFinal #GoNewcastle #AusPol 🇦🇺 🏈

IMHO Don Henley has one of the best lead voices in the game. We were lucky enough to see & hear The Eagles here in Australia a few years back with Glenn Frey. The vocal harmonies were perfect. 🇺🇸 🎸

Some mornings, some seasons, some days, & every second in between, there's a few times when we think ... al'righty we've finally got that thing, veggie, shurb or tree sorted ... usually what happens next is, we find we're back at the start, hoping to learn mo' better next time. 😍

So far for us. Shepard good. Wurtz not so good. Both can be kept low. Shepard 3.5m. Wurtz lower. Wurtz is A type, female flowers in the morning, male in the afternoon. B type opposite. More pollination chance with an A&B. We'll stick with Wurtz for 1 more year. Then maybe try another small A type. 🥑

Here's our dwarf Wurtz avocado with one little avocado just starting. 5+ years in and this little tree is still not doing too well. Gets covered in flowers. Drops leaves & fruit. Not sure why. Our Shepard Avocado fruits & does really well. Are there any ideas that might help our little Wurtz? 🇦🇺🥑

We made it to around 32°C yesterday in Newcastle/Lake Macquarie. It definitely felt like summer. Today rain and about 20°C. The weather is all over the place at the moment.

This afternoon, Lake Macquarie NSW was blanketed in bushfire smoke. You could smell it and you could see it. There's a 122 hectare fire just to the north in Port Stephens and fires to the south, including a burn off around 31 hectares in size. 🇦🇺 🔥

Sadly I agree. Change is not happening fast enough. Here in Australia @albomp.bsky.social could do much more. But "left leaning" Labor, just like the right are unable or unwilling to stop #FossilFuelCorporates. Just ending the $16 billion in annual public subsidies would be a good place start.

Indeed. One of the main issues is that governments do not govern for the future. They may say they do, and even want to. But, ultimately they govern for now. Some policy is forward looking to a more or lesser extent. But policy that's good for 100 years time? Nope. 🌏 🌱 ♻️

Reverend Genes @reverendgenes.com.au · 25/09/2026

It is the same here in Australia. The Commonwealth can and should be doing much more to reduce emissions. Australia, Canada, and India are the big emitting Commonwealth countries. Emissions are not falling fast enough. #ClimateAction 🌏 🌱 ♻️

Global warming is set to surpass the 1.5°C limit if governments worldwide fail to act.

We've always had a good experience with Australian Plants Online. We've ordered tube stock twice now and they delivered healthy plants quickly both times. If we could find the same locally we'd buy local. But, we can't so APO filled the gap.

This spring we're planting 30 bottlebrush outside our laneway side fence. The run's about 40m x 1m. The variety is Callistemon Slim. The goal is a bottlebrush hedge that's about 2m tall, 1-1.2m deep, & that attracts bees. This little one is super keen. Flowering 7 days after planting out. 🇦🇺🐨🐝

AI video is getting better. Still, pausing a video & dragging the playhead forward/back, one frame at a time helps to spot AI. This video seems to break down when doing that. There's unnatural, blurry snow artefacts on/around the goat, on the goat's edges, and gravity & ears do weird things.

010

Reverend Genes @reverendgenes.com.au · 21/09/2026

Yes! We've had hundreds of these little pollinators this year. Hopefully, our avocados will benefit. Recently there was a Varroa mite outbreak in Australia from overseas. Most European bees for 100s of kilometres were culled in response. That impacted pollination. Hopefully, things will improve. ❤️ 🐝
