Had the absolute thrill of being allowed to go up our local church tower, the oldest part of the church, built around 1450. At some point in the 1800s the tower height was increased and you can see the remains of the old roof in the 1st pic #Church #Medieval #Yorkshire #England

The Catcliffe Glass Cone in #Rotherham. Dating all the way back to 1740, it is the earliest surviving example of its type in Western Europe. It remained in use until 1901 and even housed prisoners in WW1!! #Yorkshire #History #Industrial #grade1listed #scheduledancientmonument

St.Mary's Church, Conwy, founded in 1284. The Medieval processional cross was used in Monza Cathedral, Italy until the 18c. The rood screen, 15c, marked the wedding of Arthur and Catherine of Aragon. The 15c choir stalls have amazing graffiti! #Wales #Conwy #History
