I need to interview Naoko Takeuchi so we can finally put an end to the “she hates the 90s anime” and “the 90s anime isn’t a faithful adaptation” rumors.

And finally, we have a new ending theme! Maemuki Rocket-Dan, or "Look Ahead, Rocket-Dan" is an iconic song performed by -- you guessed it -- the Rocket trio. I'm so happy I get to hear this for the next 40-some episodes or so.

This little bit where Sonansu starts clapping because it sees a cloud that vaguely resembles its Trainer is adorable. Sonansu really loves her!

Looks like Yoshihiro Kitano did a lot of key animation for this episode.

Retrosofa @retrosofa.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

The scene transitions are excessive this episode.

Interesting camera angle movement when Tuxedo Mask comes in.

I just realized they completely cut out the scene where girls practice cooking… yet Serena still mentions it at one point. Weird.

God, Darien and Rini are both so shitty.

My parents almost never came to any sort of parent-child event at school, so this episode really hit home when I was younger.

The dub doesn’t acknowledge either which makes it funnier.

I can't decide if I like Sukeban Honey or Cutie Thunder Liger better. The wrestler gimmick Honey is paying tribute to was based off of an anime creation by Go Nagai. Jushin Thunder Liger ended up having a legendary career, well known to wrestling fans all over the world.

Shin Cutey Honey (1994) ep 7 - Prison is the Nest of Evil dir. Keitarô Motonaga, Yasuchika Nagaoka, Satoshi Saga ft. Michiko Neya The way Honey says 'boy and girl' makes me melt. An appearance by Akira freakin Fudo. A great Daiko backstory. Top notch villain. Definitely a top tier episode.

Next up for Sailor Moon is, you guessed it, the 1st OP for SuperS! As always, it was scanned from a 16mm rush print in 4K by us, with a little restoration on the side to fix damaged frames. Interesting thing to note: it contains an early, unfinalized logo! www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGoL...
