Over 9 more minutes of the Kazama sisters fighting. Well, mostly Yui and Yuma. Yuka is innocent. #sukebandeka (translations - geo9875)

It'd be really nice if the companies doing 4K UHD releases of old anime remember these were made on film and they're supposed to have noise and grain.

I was lukewarm on this when I finished watching some months back, but I’m really liking it more and more when going back to take clips and post them. The three actresses have such a great sisterly bond and when it wants to be funny, it’s VERY funny. Way too much lore, but I love my chibi SDIII.

I've been enjoying Kore wa Keihi de Ochimasen! / This is Not a Business Expense! (on netflix as You Can't Expense This!). Charming time passer. Then the underrated Noriko Eguchi blazes into it halfway through and give me a show about this character who confidently introduces herself as hot

I was a little surprised to see blatant fan service in what I assumed was a kids anime about baseball, but the main thrust of the early episodes is that a pair of twins realize they are attracted to the neighbor girl they grew up with, so that's on me for being surprised

Some cur hacked into my Spotify and used it to listen to a bunch of songs I’ve never played before, I assume as part of some scam to inflate an artists profile. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but this totally fucks my year end stats because Spotify said they can’t delete the activity

Buyers of the third Shin Cutey Honey VCR got a nice surprise - a brand new theme song. At first I didn't like this because I loved the les 5-4-3-2-1 version so much, but my programming quickly kicked in and I adore it. A visual tribute not just to Honey, but to Go Nagai's entire career.

GKIDS has released this 2025 NHK tv movie marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2 in US theaters this weekend. It's based on the story of the Himeyuri Student Corps and it has my highest recommendation. Definitely see it in a theater if you can, and be ready to cry.

Need Little Ninja Bros. to get on there already. They have Kung-Fu Heroes and Super Ninja Boy but still no Little Ninja Bros., which is an amazing (albeit extremely frustrating) game.

MAMA IS AN IDOL has an all time disgusting premise (17 year old pop star marries her former middle school teacher) but everyone should watch it because it's absolutely insane and Miho Nakayama is a legend who was a natural comedic performer (it's also the origin of her Miporin nickname)

It’s insane that the world got Swing Girls in 2004 and then this the next year in 2005. Movies about young women (and a boy) in rural Japan finding out how to express themselves through music, both now regarded as being among the greatest films of all time.

I go a little crazy when I see slander for the original manga/anime and people act like Anno made gold from less than nothing with Honey. Won’t pretend there aren’t flaws, but Go Nagai’s vision was brilliant and Anno clearly has reverence for the original source material.

jp-films going down for the count has me thinking about the infamous anti-piracy ads. I saw this in Japan before a screening of Super Mario Bros Galaxy and burst out laughing (I had not yet realized it is highly impolite to laugh out loud at a Japanese movie theater)

Mourning jp-films today. I'll miss your yellow subtitles and the insane selection of movies available essentially on demand, many of which were fansubbed. Here's a good example of how invaluable it was. Not the greatest movie, but fairly obscure despite having 2 of Japan's greatest ever actors.
