I would think if a sparkly new center-running brt is built it will (hopefully) attract many new riders from a broader demographic, and peak ridership would shift at least some towards the 9-5 commute.

The only way to reduce displacement long term is to massively increase housing supply so there is more than enough to go around. At some point we just have to start building, and since there is such a shortage, there will be inevitable displacement in the mean time.
