Dear academic colleagues, after delaying this post for three months, about an event that was planned for a year, I am very pleased to announce this amazing conference on the very topic you work on: it will take place tonight, but you will see the post tomorrow. #PhilSky #Academia

Fascinating and well informed article, although going in to many directions. I still wonder how you could make responsible AI that "gives a damn" about death without itself being aware of its own mortality. #PhilSky #PhilSci #AIEthics

I wouldn't say that for everything I wrote, but rereading and translating it a year after it's been published, I believe it's a decent piece of work. "What don't you understand?" Language games and black box algorithms #PhilSky #PhilSci #XAI #LLM #🧪 arxiv.org/abs/2603.25900
The aim of this article is to understand the problem of "black box" algorithms, an issue inherent to the nascent field of ⁰Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). While it is relatively easy to understand something someone explained to us, it becomes more complicated when no one can fully grasp the issue. Our purpose is however to highlight: (1) that we should speak of interpretability rather than explainability when we seek to understand models, mainly because we never have complete and unambiguous access to information; (2) that the machines face the problem of the inscrutability of reference, in the same way that the linguist imagined by Willard Van Orman Quine cannot precisely determine what the term "gavagai" refers to in a situation of radical translation; (3) that there is no rule for the application of language, except for "language games", as Ludwig Wittgenstein's linguistics teaches us. The hope of achieving complete explicability and transparency of algorithms is undoubtedly in vain: we can only rely on partial and broad interpretations that will never fully explain the underlying rules.

When my cat is acting randomly and doing stupid things, I don't assume he's really aware nor conscious during these periods (and I doubt he is). Why should we assume steel and silicon machines are when they're doing the same? #PhilSky #AIEthics

Am I the only one wondering why the hell would you use #LLMs for millitary purpose? I know the US said they used Claude and just signed an agreement with OpenAI, but the models still hallucinate so much we need to check everything. In war, you need accuracy and chain of command. #AIEthics #Iran

This is the exact place in Clermont-Ferrand (France) where philosopher Blaise Pascal was born in 1623. The only indication I found is a pub called Café Pascal. Geographically speaking, the house was actually where the lampost is. 1/3

Excellent paper by @bernardokastrup.bsky.social, I really enjoyed reading it, but I still have a few questions. Why "analytic" idealism (and not just "idealism")? What are "transpersonal, non-perceptual experiential states" (how can they be non-perceptual and experiential at the same time)?
