The only time I've ever shed a tear over a celebrity dying was for Rik Mayall. The Young Ones started when I was at secondary school and changed the way I saw comedy. Bottom is still my favourite series of any type and I've now got my 11yr old into it.

Do you ever just think, Rik fucking Mayall, man, and then get a bit sad. He'd be 68 now. (Bottom is 35 years old this month.) Weird how I miss a man who I'd never met as much as I do, but I just think 2026 would be a lot better if he was still about.

#OnThisDay 1 October 1991 WE REALLY ARE VERY NORMAL Madcap #RikMayall and #AdeEdmondson have sunk to their most sordid depths yet. Their characters Richie Richards and Eddie Hitler in the new sitcom Bottom are snivelling scumbags. But wait. There's something far more shocking ...

#Blackadder My favorite British comedy is Blackadder followed by "The Young Ones", I loved it when they had Rik Mayall on and Adrian Edmondson on. In this we see the late great Mayall playing a recurring character, Lord Flasheart, with the future All-Star cast www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKfb...

Fun fact: I once directed Rik Mayall for a voiceover performance. He was the nicest celebrity I've ever met. Just completely down to earth, no ego, just a straight-up nice bloke.

I've been watching this TV show- Believe Nothing. I didn't know this existed. Its Rik Mayall in fine form following on from The New Statesman. It has lots of cheap gags but among those are some well observed vignettes on neo liberalism and its subsequent crimes
