UKRI Future Leaders funded project led by Dr Peter Bray based at University of Reading - Archaeology. We're examining the chemical composition of copper alloy artefacts from across the UK using pXRF and MP-AES analysis, looking for reuse & recycling.

We recently visited @stalbansmuseums.bsky.social to analyse the copper alloy objects in their collection. We saw some beautiful objects and should have the results of the analysis soon!

The last talk before the coffee break is Katie Manby, Uni of Reading, speaking about her recently submitted PhD research. This looked at Roman statuettes in the British Museum's collection chemically and stylistically, and brought in archival & collections research.

We've been busy with some experimental #Archaeology & have been striking our own coins! We had some custom dies made - official & barbarous portraits of Tetricus, the project & the @uniofreading.bsky.social logo. We've got enough for a hoard now! #FindsFriday

A very hoppy #FindsFriday - an adorable little crouched hare plate brooch (only 2cm long!). It has a tinned surface with bands of niello inlay and a hinged pin. It was found in the Forum Basilica excavations at Silchester #Roman Town. #Easter #Archaeology
