I am tired of people saying we can’t win in front of the Supreme Court. I’m annoyed by those who say my firm is too partisan to be effective. Today we won a huge redistricting fight before SCOTUS and a ballot access case before the Nebraska Supreme Court. The lesson: When we fight we win.

🇵🇸 A 15-year-old Palestinian boy remains unconscious in intensive care and may lose his right foot after Israel denied him treatment in prison as his health collapsed, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said.

Mohammed Hamid developed scabies in Israeli custody, but prison authorities withheld necessary care even as his condition deteriorated. He was then returned to prison in critical condition, where severe infections spread to his heart and brain.

Only after he reached a life-threatening stage did Israeli authorities release him, in what the group described as an attempt to escape responsibility. Mohammed is now unconscious at Shaare Zedek Hospital, with doctors considering the amputation of his right foot.

The Prisoners’ Club said his case reflects a systematic Israeli policy of using medical neglect and deprivation of treatment as tools of “slow killing” against Palestinian prisoners, including children, within a prison system of torture and abuse that has escalated sharply since the start of the genocide.

10/ Morrison was ultimately charged with 11 felony counts of permitting child abuse and other related crimes. But because the state would have to prove substantial physical harm to the victim to convict on the charge, prosecutors decided to enter into a plea deal:
Article excerpt: Morrison pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 120 days on house arrest and five years of probation. She had to surrender her Arkansas occupational therapy license. And she agreed to not work with kids in any professional capacity during her probation.

Nobody seemed happy with Morrison’s punishment. But the prosecutor said the state decided the plea deal was the best option to make sure Morrison was held accountable. Under Arkansas law, the state would have to prove substantial physical harm to the victim in order to convict on a charge of permitting abuse to a minor, and juries can judge that differently, said Sonia Hagood, who prosecuted the case for the state. For instance, she said, a recent jury decided not to convict a defendant because the victim did not suffer serious physical injury.

As part of her deal, Morrison got to pick where she served her time — the Greene County Detention Center, which is newer than Craighead County’s jail and gave her a private cell. And she’s serving house arrest on her boyfriend’s Missouri ranch, where she can ride horses.
