What? Me? I'm back? Probably not for long tbh but I managed to get ONE prompt in as a response to @duskwightdancer.bsky.social 's from yesterday. Farim gets the shovel talk. Prompt 16: steel ellipsus.com/read/548WwqA... #ffxivwrite

"I'm not here to be your punching bag, Maashtaya. I have work to do and so do you."Farim knew it was a mistake as soon as he said it. He shouldn't let himself be goaded so easily by a man who hadn't had time to stop grieving. For all Mash had tried to protect his baby sister, he hadn't been able to. Farim had been the one to chase her, to follow her into the hellscape of another world. He'd been the one by her side through it all. Farim genuinely wasn't certain he'd ever be forgiven for that.

happy birthday all horses (northern hemisphere)

All thoroughbreds have the same birthday so that their ages can be standardized for comparison because of the historical lack of records of actual birthdays. january 1 in the northern hemisphere and august 1 in the southern hemisphere

Posted the final chapter of this zero/jullus fic in the nick of time last night for @moonpins ! Enjoy! (Linked below) #togetherforstarlight #ffxivfanfic

Two weeks into living in Ilsabard, she started to smell the oil. The old train terminal was thick with the grease leaking from the corpses of decrepit machinery. Clove oil, like the kind she used on her own weapons, was liberally applied to swords and armor to fight the powder snow that was ever pervasive outside and and even worse in the station once it melted into slush. In front of her, Jullus dabbed a thin, odorless liquid onto a small cloth and ran it along the disassembled interior of his firearm. Oil on skin, cooking oil, accelerants. It was a new sensation, the ability to smell, and Zero didn't know whether to cover her nose or breathe it all in like it was the last of her humanity

There are so many pieces of this that I want to pull-quote, but this in particular is so important. Transformative fandom spaces are not without their own ugly biases, but the stories that get "uplifted" into tradpub books only serve to reinforce whose stories are already seen as worthy of telling.

Feed fanfic into capitalism, and it comes out shaped like capitalism. The job of agents and editors is to find authors whose books will be successful, which means finding ways to cash on social media trends—like the BookTok popularity of Dramione and Reylo. And those trends aren’t neutral. The TikTok algorithm that produced them is racially biased, suppressing content from Black and queer creators. At the level of the basic mechanics of the platform, virality accrues first and most to white tastemakers and their interests. The publishing industry, whose gatekeepers are overwhelmingly white, has racism problems of its own. The issues of racism, sexism, ableism, and heterosexism compound.

The cactuar and chocobo reversible mood lights are 7” tall, with a larger size coming soon. This seem to fit better on my desk space without it being too big. Cactuar is available on my Etsy shop today, the chocobo drops tomorrow! zelas.etsy.com/listing/4372... #ffxivmerch #xivmerch #ff14 #ffxiv

Gwen, a Duskwight Elezen woman, and Farim, a Rava Viera man, are positioned in front of the window of the room in the Pendants where the sky is still everlasting light. Gwen sits on the ledge of the window while Farim kneels on the floor beside her, one hand coming to rest on her cheek while one of her own hands holds his wrist. Gwen's normally blonde hair is now white and her red highlights are now a pale pink and she looks completely terrified with wide eyes and an open mouth. Farim looks just as scared and concerned, his ears pinned back against his head.

“Then take someone else. You could ask Aymeric, for instance.”

“I'm not involving him in this. His opponents will do anything to have him crucified.”

He thought of the pale, bumpy skin that his friend's shirtsleeves couldn't cover and the tapestry of scarring that they implied. A wave of disgust rolled over him, only differentiated from the nausea by the cold tingle that spread from the base of his skull. He didn't resent Halone. She was a sculpture in a great hall that good men used to justify courage as often as bad men twisted scripture for their own ends. If there was a great power that listened to their prayer, how did it differentiate the wheat from the chaff? If She cared, would She have let his brother bleed out on the steps of Her domain?

He didn't know how he was supposed to smile and nod and shake hands with a congregation of liars. He didn't know if he could stand to look up into the stained glass.

Niryl didn't care much about his hair until the duskwight woman who nursed him back to health started styling it to keep it clean and out of his face. He still does it the same way she did because it was something that marked him as family and he's so warm and fuzzy about it that he'll never stop
