My Alma mater -- the Amarillo High Golden Sandstorm, Sandies for short. The mascot was adopted during the Dust Bowl when the team was winning multiple Texas state championships. Our only decade of success.

Pull up a chair, kids, and let Grandpa tell you about this thing called PBS. It used to have shows like Schoolhouse Rock to teach kids civics in the 1970s. Congress defunded PBS in 2025. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ8p...

Good gosh. This is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. Democrats didn't dump history and civics (gov't) from school curricula. Those classes still exist, but here's a reminder from civics: States control curricula, and Red states have been the culprit for changing standards in social studies.
Justice Gorsuch: America's biggest threat isn't China or Russia -- it's our own ignorance. And who engineered that? Democrats who spent YEARS stripping civics, history, and the Founders out of classrooms ...

I remember when political ads were primarily about catching the opponent in a lie. Back in the day, that was disqualifying. Trump made it routine. Supreme Court justices lied in their confirmation hearings that Roe was "settled law." @itsmebenmarsh.substack.com @bonhoefferchild.bsky.social 1/🧵

Interesting replies. I want to clarify one thing: I don't consider us a Christian nation in the sense of CN. As recently as the 1990s, 90% of the population identified as Christian. Today, it's less than 65%. Evangelicals worry about us becoming secular like the EU, but it's already here via MAGA.
The chart shows that from 1992 to 2022, the percent of the population who identified as Christian fell from 90% to 63%.

These two paragraphs crack me up every time.
Peterson’s answer is that people figure out how to act by turning to a common set of stories, which contain “archetypes” that have developed over the course of our species’ evolution. He believes that by studying myths, we can see values and frameworks shared across cultures, and can therefore understand the structures that guide us.But here I am already giving Peterson’s work a more coherent summary than it actually deserves. And after all, if “many human stories have common moral lessons” was his point, he would have been saying something so obvious that nobody would think to credit it as a novel insight. Peterson manages to spin it out over hundreds of pages, and expand it into an elaborate, unprovable, unfalsifiable, unintelligible theory that encompasses everything from the direction of history, to the meaning of life, to the nature of knowledge, to the structure of human decision-making, to the foundations of ethics. (A good principle to remember is that if a book appears to be about everything, it’s probably not really about anything.)

Breaking down a couple of silos: 1. CCM and the Salem Media group, whose far-right owners push MAGA propaganda through 2,000 radio stations. Look at their lineup of "Christian" commentators. 2. Homeschool curricula are dominated by creationists (Abeka) and far-right wingnuts like Douglas Wilson.
The company's Salem Radio Network subsidiary produces several talk radio shows and a 24-hour news service that are distributed to more than 2,000 radio affiliates around the country.
