Instructive read. It’s amazing how many billions of dollars we’ve wasted over the last 250 years so white people can feel like they are self-sufficient and superior.

Town Hall Tap brings the kids meal first, even when you forget to ask. This is my new favorite place to eat.

Wow! I just time traveled to D.A.R.E. dances and middle school. What an amazing playlist. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed the RS piece on Choosin’ Texas and I know the author—Marissa Moss—has been a champion for female country artists. Sometimes I pine for the pre-internet days, when a writer could offer constructive criticism of our culture and the audience would listen, reflect and then respond.

We go to the one on Broadway every 1-2 weeks (mostly with our cargo e-bikes) and the St. Louis Park one every 6-8 weeks.

This is why I always preferred The Singles to Reality Bites.

Is 5th graders saying “good vibes” and singing Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys a thing everywhere, or just at the school I was visiting today?

A bunch of us AT professionals checked this out on a group ride earlier this summer, and it’s great to see how far the project has come along the past few months.

I’m excited for the day when some of those four blocks near our home become protected bike lanes too.

Out family biked from our home in NE Minneapolis to the Minneapolis Monarch Festival this morning and—except for the four blocks from our house to the Minneapolis Diagonal Trail—the whole ride was on protected bike lanes and trails. That’s pretty cool.

This weekend was the first Labor Day weekend I wasn’t either working at the state fair or traveling since I moved to Minnesota in 2012. I never realized how quiet everything is and I like it.

It definitely does—I hear it now. Thank you. Also, agree on Alex Farrar and now I’m going to spend the afternoon in an Alex Farrar rabbit hole 😀

As we watched our daughter lose herself in the music I realized what our job as parents will be over the next 15 years—to give her a childhood where she reacts the exact same way to music as an adult—no inhibitions, just losing herself in the music when the music moves her.

We took the 3-year-old to the State Fair Thursday morning and as soon as she heard the live music coming from the stage at the DNR park she sprinted to the dance floor in front of the stage, took off her shoes and socks and danced until the set ended 40 minutes later.

Not surprised to see the South represented in my dialect, but definitely surprised to see Mississippi represented—my southern roots are SE Tennessee and SW Missouri.

Map of the United States showing dialect pattern, with Minneapolis, MN, Stockton, CA, and Jackson, MS highlighted as cities with dialect similar to my own.

Was really hoping Bone Thugs and Harmony would be the opener, but this should be a good show still. I’m excited to finally see a show at the Mystic Lake Amphitheater tonight.

Our 3-year-old has been obsessed with seeing pictures of herself when she was a baby lately and has found much joy in discovering that—no matter how we swaddled her—she always found a way to get her arms out of the swaddle so every pic of her in the bassinet show her tiny hands next to her face. 😍

So all of those allergy immunotherapy treatments I received from 2021-2023 seem to have lost their efficacy this summer and ragweed is murdering me every time I step outdoors. Should I move my family to the desert, Y/y?
