I thought I was doing ok. But I’ve cried three times today so apparently not. 😢

This is Chubbers. He is catching a wave. But more importantly, catching a vibe. 14/10 (IG: nataliepaigebentley)

a yellow lab smiles at us from the middle of a blue-green wave in the ocean. his front paws are mid-paddle. soft seafoam has formed on the beach. the lab is glad you're watching. he wanted you to see him having the time of his life.

She hisses and swats at everybody, so we took her to the vet thinking maybe she was in pain. Turns out she's just an asshole.

This is Theodora. She shocked everyone with her athleticism during a relay race. Would like to remind everyone that she is a herding breed and has actually been reaching these speeds for thousands of years. 13/10 (TT: rundownriver)

They were! I guess it’s a safety issue as you can’t see traffic if someone drives through the median.

Redqueen76 @redqueen76.bsky.social · 09/07/2026

Some of our freeways used to have oleanders planted in the median like this. Sadly I think they’re removing a lot of them for safety reasons.

I think I just read it’s 12-14 hours to drive from the top of California to the bottom. It’s a big state. 😂

Yeah @dawse.bsky.social couldn’t believe it when we drove for 8 hours and were still in California. lol

Yeah my dog also likes to chew greenery. A neighbor around the corner has a pink oleander and I always think of the book when I walk by. 😊

I think I like the book so much because the writing is just so beautiful and the characters feel so alive. The movie captured none of that.

Yeah it’s pretty much based in and around LA and I’m 5 hours north in Sacramento. I have been to LA a few times, but considering I’ve lived in California for 26 years now, I haven’t visited that area much.

They have them on a lot of the freeways here..and some of my neighbors have them. I don’t have any since they are poisonous. But it was cool moving here and seeing them for the first time. 😂

It’s very poetic. 👍🏻 I was going to mention that the film is terrible! 😂 I think I read one other novel of hers and it wasn’t nearly as good. It was called “Paint it Black”, and I don’t remember a single thing about it.

The author writes so lyrically and beautifully. I read it right before I moved to California. 😂 (Although I live about 5 hours north of where the novel is set). But we do have oleanders here. 👍

Oh my gosh! That’s actually my favorite book! I reread it pretty often.
