Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 09/01/2026OpenTendo-Twin, an open source recreation of the Sharp Twin Famicom (A Famicom with a Famicom Disk System built in) is in the final stages before release. The highlighted nets are all that are left, testing and then release should happen quite soon. 26013
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 24/10/2025Made a pen for a Christmas charity auction. It's Holly, silver, sweet potato and African Blackwood, with engraved Holly leaf hardware. 190
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 15/10/2025Ring made of Red palm, African blackwood, and sweet potato with a 24K gold kintsugi inlay. #woodworking 1200
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 27/07/2025Rewatching your video about using the Gameboy Camera with the N64DD while 3D modeling made me do this. I hope you approve. @stopskeletons.bsky.social (I am building a portable GameCube with real GameCube hardware in it with a built in GameBoy Player. So you will 100% be able to do this.) 0478
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 18/07/2025It is powered by a real trimmed GameCube motherboard, a built in reverse engineered GameBoy Player and a whole lot of custom hardware. Some modules from BitBuilt community members make a variety of the features possible. 0191
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 18/07/2025Scale is hard, but it is hardly any bigger than a GameCube disc. And not that Far off from the size of a GBA. Which to be honest after being zoomed way in designing it, absolutely caught me off guard. 2170
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 18/07/2025I'm making a portable GameCube. It's not a Wii. It'll have a directly driven 480p laminated IPS panel for the crispiest GameCube pixels you've seen. It'll have USB C PD charging. Video out over USB C. Wireless 4 player multiplayer. Oh, it'll play Gameboy games too. Don't forget the handle. 917834
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 03/06/2025I made a ring out of a sweet potato and salt. Sorta #woodworking right? 1190
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 07/05/2025I made a pen out of spalted hickory, spalted beech, brass, leather and carrot. Yes the vegetable. Yes I'm serious. #woodworking 1243
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 27/04/2025I made a pen out of blackberry wood. Yes blackberry plants have wood, and you bet I worked it. #woodworking 1390
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 17/04/2025A new version that supports all motherboard revisions is finished, however due to tariffs and Hong Kong halting shipments to USA I'm uncertain when I will be able to test it. Hopefully sooner rather than later. :( 2438
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 15/04/2025The first ever USB C power supply for the original Xbox is now OPEN SOURCE. 121 revision Xboxes are currently supported, 009 and 012 will come the next few days. It is licensed under TAPR , you may make, and sell it as long as you leave my name on the PCB, and share changes. 2258974
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 14/03/2025For the people that for whatever reason *don't* like USB C PD (there's a few) it also supports using a 20V 5A barrel jack supply. This config could be cheaper as you don't HAVE TO populate the PD stuff. (More specifically anything > 12V with enough current, but 20V 5A is the recommendation) 0210
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 14/03/2025I thought I posted this here too but I guess not. Need an Xbox PSU? This is a USB C PD power supply for intact original Xbox consoles (Not portables!) I will be open sourcing it very soon. 811021
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 20/02/2025This is the Nintendo Dataship 1200. An extremely rare Famicom with a built in network system. It's so rare, I bet you have never heard of it. Let's reverse engineer it together. Follow along for however long it takes, and I will show you how to preserve this stuff forever. :) 412128
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 05/02/2025I question if you have had actual real maple syrup and someone wasn't scamming you if you are absolutely sure you don't like it. Come on over, I've been making my own over the winters for over 10 years, I'll show you what it's all about. 130
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 01/02/2025Do you have access to a Sharp Famicom Titler? Do you know someone who does? I need HD top down photos of the front and back of the motherboard. If you are able to get the photos, please toss them in a GDrive folder and DM me the link. Reposts are appreciated. 56217
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 31/01/2025The custom footprints, layout, and outline for OpenTendo-Twin are done, the same is nearly done for OpenTendo-Titler. Not bad for a days work. For those that don't know, OpenTendo-Twin, and OpenTendo-Titler will cover the Sharp Twin Famicom, and Sharp Famicom Titler respectively. 1/2 2374
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 11/01/2025Hey! @seamus.bsky.social I was looking through photos of the metal X prototype, and noticed there seem to be 3 different jewels? A "Powered by Direct X" jewel, a black and a green Xbox jewel. I was wondering if you remembered the timelime on these? 2220

Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 20/11/2024Kamoteshake created some PCBs to replace some of the obsolete parts on the #OpenTendo BOM that you normally have to get from AliExpress or other sites. You can find them here: github.com/kamoteshake/... (Credit to Kamoteshake for the photos too) 3545
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 12/11/2024Just a heads up, Itch seems to have quarantined the page for some reason? It still lets you download the game but might scare people off. 210
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 20/10/2024This project is made possible by 12! different fully custom PCBs I had to design just for it, some (But not all) of which are shown here: 1962
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 20/10/2024I had to research Xbox motherboard trimming completely from scratch, a task that took me a bit over 4 months. Nobody had ever tried it before. I wrote an Xbox trimming guide (That is publicly available!), and along the way I had to do reverse engineer nearly the entire board. 11173
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 20/10/2024This build is a first of its kind. At its heart is a trimmed original Xbox motherboard, enabling it to be fully compatible with the entire Xbox library with no exceptions. (Yes, even Steel Battalion if you have a controller) With this build what you see is what you get. 11333
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 20/10/2024I built a portable Xbox. This isn't a PC handheld, it isn't emulation, this is a real motherboard from a real Xbox. It has a 9” 480p display, pure digital video/audio, 100W USB C charge and play, and I'm currently adding WiFi 6 for wireless Xbox Live functionality. Yes, really. 1685949837
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 11/08/2023Well I'll be darned, this original Xbox still works. How about that. 2273
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 09/08/2023There's a certain satisfaction to bodging a PCB cleanly. I'm not sure how to describe it. 1212
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 08/08/2023Ever wanted to relocate IDE further inwards on the Original Xbox motherboard? No? Well this is awkward then. It's definitely better than soldering 34 individual wires though. (Don't ask how I know) 1142
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 24/07/2023Hey! I've been doing a little something with the original Xbox. Pretty sure this photo is a dead give away but I'm bored so I may as well spill the beans. Guesses as to the madness I'm cooking up are encouraged. 6233
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 22/07/2023Twitter suspending me for no justifiable reason was bad enough But they now rate limit suspended accounts to a couple dozen tweets. This means *just opening Twitter* exceeds the limit and breaks it for 24hrs. I can't open external links, I can't use the search feature, and I can't browse my feed. 380
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 10/07/2023I have been doing some Original Xbox stuff, and I swear there's a perfectly good reason for this monstrosity existing..... (Sorry for massacring your boy Seamus.) 3182
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 08/07/2023My GTX 1060 died at the end of last month after 4 years of use. Pretty sad about that, but I managed to snag this for $250, so all is not lost! The perf boost should help with the 3D mesh work I wanna do really soon too. 100
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 03/07/2023This is TinyTendo, a fully open source real hardware NES handheld that is the size of an original GameBoy. This is not emulation, it is not a Pi, it is not a NOAC, and it is not an FPGA. This is real NES hardware from a real NES. TinyTendo uses real chips that are physically cut smaller by hand. 1345
Redherring32 @redherring32.com · 02/07/2023Since I got canned from Twitter from no reason, may as well. I primarily reverse engineer retro video game hardware, but I've been making my own designs and "portablizing" game systems lately and I really enjoy it. I open source everything. I created OpenTendo, TinyTendo, and OpenTendo-Toploader 0377
