A Beginner's Guide to Structural Variants in Eco‐Evolutionary Population Genomics
Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has greatly expanded researchers' ability to study structural variants (SVs), that is, the variation in the presence, number, orientation or position of a DNA sequence.…

On this #TransDayOfVisibility I've been reflecting on how much more fear I have being visibly and loudly trans+ lately (and how afraid my trans siblings and peers are lately)--we now have a local bathroom ban, forced misgendering of students and teachers, etc. But we're still here, still wonderful

I like to think if I was turned into a fish, I'd be a sarcastic fringehead, but in reality I'd probably be this guy. So for #FishOfTheWeek let's talk about flatfishes. They are much cooler than you think 1/7
A flatfish lays on sand with a decidedly grumpy look on his face, much like me when my nap gets interrupted. It's tan, with white and orange spots, helping it to blend into its sand bed

Hi 🦋! I'm a marine ecologist and evolutionary biologist fortunate to lead a transatlantic research lab in 🇨🇦🇸🇪🇳🇴 focused on how fishes respond to their environments. We love combining experiments and fieldwork with genomics, tracking, bioacoustics, and deep learning to forecast population responses!
