Everyone trying to defend that Converse ad apparently missed the part about how the viewer is also an active participant in the meaning of any art or media piece. If the art piece evokes a racist image for the viewer regardless of the actual subject matter, that is in and of itself meaningful.

Asian and Pacific Islanders deserve to know the full extent of ICE’s attacks, so we built a public data tool to show you exactly that. Our new A/PI ICE Tracker shows ICE arrests, detentions, and deportations across 35 A/PI countries of citizenship (plus Hong Kong and Macau) and all 50 US states. ⬇️

Stop AAPI Hate's Asian and Pacific Islander (A/PI) ICE Tracker monitors Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity involving A/PI people under the current U.S. administration (beginning with President Trump's inauguration day on Jan 20, 2025) and provides a better understanding of ICE's impact on our communities. Data is updated as it becomes available.

Exactly. Again full disclosure, I’m on this soap box bc I literally posted my practice exam - with answer key and grading rubric - yesterday morning. But yes - the point of exams shouldn’t be the exam grade but how you can use it to get students to synthesize the material up to that point.

The welcome bags include a report commissioned by Mr. Trump during his first term that downplays the role of slavery in the country’s founding, and a children’s book accusing South Africa’s government of “favoring the Black population.”

I wrote a whole bloody book partially in response to this problem. Exercise should be for everybody, but schools devote way too much energy to kids who *already* enjoy competitive sports & not enough to those who might just like to move their bodies blissfully without worrying about personal bests.

So I want to talk about the problem with mandatory fitness tests in schools. I’m sure nothing I’ll say is new, but I still think it’s important to say: they absolutely place too much emphasis on competition and too little emphasis on helping kids who might actually benefit from it.

This fucking statement from the Trump administration for AAPI heritage month is infuriating. A crock of model minority bullshit. (Alt text of each screencap contains full text of statement.)
This Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we celebrate the resilience, devotion, and patriotism of Americans whose heritage spans the Pacific and whose tremendous contributions have helped build the greatest Nation the world has ever known.
Throughout our Nation’s 250 glorious years of freedom and independence, countless Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made tremendous contributions to our national story. From the more than 77,000 brave service members defending our freedoms in the Armed Forces and the countless small business owners fueling our economy to the talented doctors who are making our country healthy again and the technological innovators driving our industries into the future, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have strengthened every facet of American life.
The values that my Administration is fighting for are the same values the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities live by every day—family, hard work, education, and the promise of freedom. Since I returned to office, my Administration has advanced those values by lowering the cost of living and delivering historic tax relief for working families and small business owners through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. We are stopping violent crime and making our neighborhoods safe again for our children. We are restoring excellence in education by empowering parents and advancing merit. And we are forging powerful trade deals with our Asian and Pacific partners, which are expanding our access to key markets, strengthening supply chains, and securing better opportunities for American workers of every background.
This month, as we honor the enduring contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, we pledge to work toward a radiant American future that is guided by faith, driven by hope, motivated by hard work, and uplifted by an unwavering belief in the greatness of our Nation. This Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we celebrate the resilience, devotion, and patriotism of Americans whose heritage spans the Pacific and whose tremendous contributions have helped build the greatest Nation the world has ever known.
