I love the worldbuilding I can do with classic D&D, in particular AD&D (1e & 2e), as well as Swords & Wizardry and Castles & Crusades. But…they pale a bit in comparison with what I can do with classic Rolemaster 2e. It’s pure brilliance. ⚔️ #DnD #Rolemaster #ttrpg

I’ve got the finalized “early access” of the Falenburg Tome of Adventure done! I’ve printed out finalized play test packets + maps. I’m busy working on the Tome of Judgement now. Loot is done and the bestiary is nearing completion. I’m pretty excited to get it to this stage. #ttrpg #osr #dnd

One RPG goal for 2026 is to run a solo campaign. After some back & forth (+ some help from my son) I’m going to explore a D&D edition and setting I’ve borrowed from in the past, but never really dove into. My solo campaign attempt will be using the D&D Rules Cyclopedia (100% RAW) in the Known World.

OD&D gets so many things right, including the historical accuracy of medieval garrison sizes. They were usually quite small (20-200) and in OD&D the random castle garrison roll gives you 30-180 (3d6x10) soldiers (+ added commanders & higher level fighters). That’s pretty dang close. ⚔️

As I’ve been diving back into Rolemaster 2e over the last few days, I’ve been quickly reminded how brilliant this RPG is. PC development is the most complex part. At the table, it’s pretty smooth and straightforward. Basic math skills and occasionally using amazing charts are needed. #Rolemaster

“Your OD&D will vary.” That’s good and in the spirit of the original game. My foundation is the original 3 books. Then I use aspects of the OD&D Supplements, Holmes Basic, Judges Guild, Strategic Review, and Dragon. I use the AD&D Monster Manual. I also add some of my own stuff to it and experiment.
