I do have some POD versions and other copies for use at the table and players to flip through. But these are for me when I just want to read up on things. I’m trying to keep them as nice as possible for as long as possible.

Maybe. Greyhawk fits a little more “grounded and gritty” vibe than the Realms do (at least what the Realms got turned into). Definitely lower magic overall.

I love the Realms too, specifically the original grey box set. Not so much a lot after 2e. Greyhawk gives me a bit more room to breathe for my style of GMing. Also way less high-level NPCs and not as much magic running around.

Agreed. Plus Greyhawk is that perfect sandbox for me. The important stuff is detailed (in the ‘83 box set) but then I still have a ton of room to really make it mine.

The way it’s presented and written to begin with. Fantastic overall worldbuilding from Gygax. Plus the fact that it’s a campaign setting that predates the publication of D&D gives it extra weight.

I love the worldbuilding I can do with classic D&D, in particular AD&D (1e & 2e), as well as Swords & Wizardry and Castles & Crusades. But…they pale a bit in comparison with what I can do with classic Rolemaster 2e. It’s pure brilliance. ⚔️ #DnD #Rolemaster #ttrpg

One RPG goal for 2026 is to run a solo campaign. After some back & forth (+ some help from my son) I’m going to explore a D&D edition and setting I’ve borrowed from in the past, but never really dove into. My solo campaign attempt will be using the D&D Rules Cyclopedia (100% RAW) in the Known World.
