I have a History, as they say, with this product line. It would eventually release as Dangerous Journeys, or more properly Mythus, the fantasy end of a planned series of games. It was huge, huge mess. TSR ended up handing a pile of cash to Gary and GDW for the privilege of burying it.

You have plenty of agency in Traveller character creation (less so in Classic). What you don't control is how the galaxy treated your character before you began play.

In Traveller you can USS an interstellar vibe you like. You can have spacefarers be mostly professionals, like Star Trek. Or the are business travellers, sprinkled with fugitives and often State Enforcers, like in Star Wars. Or dirty, rowdy blue collar folks and scheming corpos like the EXPASE.

The Team Xerxes finale went swimmingly. The PCs rescued the Senior Scout, relaying him to the Naval Base. They did not rescue the Mayor being held hostage, which will trigger a Corpo crackdown and an increase in Law Level when UWPs get updated, but at least they gunned down some terrorists.

The full Orion's Embers map presented for the first time. It's not final, but aside from maybe restyling it I don't think anything here will need to change, given the (very high) level of detail of this map. My campaign's region, the Outer Rim (16 sectors) is too small to display at this scale.

The new Ars Magica has arrived from @atlasgames.bsky.social. It is a great RPG and a beautiful book. The packaging was, however, lame. It was packed in a soft cardboard box which exactly fit the slipcase, then bagged. Negligible damage protection; corners crushed. There will be an unboxing video.

I've finished mapping the Outer Rim's densest subsector, also a major hotspot, with a shooting war ongoing between the Vencarii Dominion and the Korvellan Demarchate. After a string of defeats and the loss of four worlds, the Demarchate is now employing Carcarian mercenaries in its defense.

The Orion Shoulder is the bridge between the Orion Arm and the rift sectors beyond. The sector contains 229 charted systems; the highest Tech Level (H) is found at Ahl-Bracht and Burwaal. The highest population is A, at Sheraden, thought to be the most populous single world in the entire Outer Rim.

An snapshot of my Outer Rim mapping project (still in progress) in Inkscape. 12/16 sectors are done, but the 4 remaining are the densest by a considerable margin. War-torn Korbez subsector (in Cauldron), seen here, is the densest subsector in the entire Outer Rim, with 46 charted systems.

The Prospect's Edge sector of the Outer Rim is bordered to spinward by Milliam's Dark, to coreward by Orion Shoulder, to trailing by the Atlas Gap, and to rimward by the Diomedes Dark. A very sparse sector, it is home to 36 charted systems, all of which are formally Non-Aligned. Max TL is B.

The Outer Skerry is both an astrographic feature and the most rimward and trailing of the Outer Rim's 16 sectors. A frontier region, the Skerry is home to an isolated but vigorous young polity, the Outer Worlds Union. The Skerry is also the setting for my own Outer Rim campaign.

The Atlas Gap is the sparsest of the 16 sectors of the Outer Rim, containing only 22 charted worlds across 11 of its subsectors - the remaining 5 being empty of systems here at the edge of the Orion Arm. The highest TL is E, at Costollo; the highest population, of 5 Billion, is found at Sebanistan.

The Broken Dreams sector, immediately coreward of the Outer Skerry. Like much of the rimward regions of the Outer Rim, it is very sparse, but nevertheless hosts two significant interstellar powers, as well as two minor ones.
