It HAS to be a strong song. You mentioned it on the episode - is that a sneak preview? A promise of it coming soon? 🙏🙏🙏 MM voice is honey.

1/x Two of the best-known coats on any high street began as working kit for sailors on cold decks. Both carry names from my little corner of the North Sea: Duffel, a small town near Antwerp, and the Dutch word "pij". The story of the duffel coat and the peacoat. #maritimehistory

Fourteen years ago, Twitter was the fastest, funniest game on the web. Now I’ve been driven out by so-called ‘online activists’. The only answer is to unplug and try this instead

So pleased with all the love this clip has had! The film itself is *achingly* close to breaking 100k views on YT and while reaching this number will achieve absolutely nothing (tangible) it will make me, a buffoon, very happy... www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8vZ...

Soon Netflix recommendations will be generated on demand. They already know you like films with Nicholas Cage and Carrie Fisher and also crime thrillers set in Manchester and it will just show up and be generated as soon as you click the thumbnail.

For the past 6 years, I’ve been working on developer education full time, on my online courses + blog. It’s been an incredible privilege to be able to focus on this stuff. ✨ I’m starting to wonder, though, whether the business model I’ve chosen is sustainable. Let me explain… 🧵

Incredible how far beyond Orwell's Big Brother we've gone. Not content with people paying hundreds to carry the surveillance cameras and do the work themselves, now our kids toys are creating 3d maps for drones to keep going when satellites are down.

Fascinating. Holst - Baltic German on his father's side. Brunel - half-French. Burke - Irish as a shamrock. Churchill - half-American (& that half descended from French exiles). Almost as if constant mobility and intermixing is a thing. Oh, and all 4 of the Beatles had Irish ancestors.

6/ But the most amazing thing is the hour or so of serenity in a mad world, listening intently to @kirkhamilton.com every word and opinion, caressing the sound waves and pouring honey into my ears. This episode should be played at every mindfulness class :) Great job Kirk. Magnum Opus.

5/ I’m always blown away by the creative process - learning about the book inspiring the song, and different meanings behind the words makes it a deeper listening experience. I’ve never been that much of a “study the lyrics” person, but @kirkhamilton.com opens my eyes and ears every time.

4/ But this episode goes even deeper. The clever use of time and the tenure of Joni’s career to be juxtaposed with the changing key signatures as her voice ages is excellent, but then the way the *same lyrics* portray a different meaning over time - just wow.

3/ This particular episode you can hear the love @kirkhamilton.com has of the song and the singer in just the reverence he shows all the way through. So serious, yet light, and bringing his factoids on the song (polio - did not know that) along with the deeper dives into the chords and structure.

2/ But first, my eternal thanks to @gregjenner.bsky.social for introducing me to this amazing podcast series. It truly is timeless - at any time you can just go to a song you like/don’t like and get lost in Kirk’s enthusiasm and his smooth vocals. It soothes the most fraught of minds.

1/ I *have* to put pen to paper to talk about @kirkhamilton.com latest Strong Song episode, Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. In my humble opinion, this is Kirk’s Magnum Opus. I am a patreon www.patreon.com/cw/strongsongs of his, so I’ve got it early, so I can’t link direct to it. It is amazing!
