I lived in the UK for 15 years. The NHS is such a huge market for pharma companies, they can't afford not to negotiate prices, so everyone in the UK gets affordable prescriptions. The US *could* do that for its citizens with a National Health system, but doesn't b/c you're all afraid of Socialism.
