🌿 NEW SPECIES TO SCIENCE: This rare turquoise “jade ginger” has been officially named Hellwigia opalina. The story began 26 years ago on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi (pictured in 2000), where the unusual plant was spotted. Read more: rbge.cc/jade-ginger @axelginger.bsky.social

Agnes Arber was a British plant morphologist and one of the first women botanists recognized by the Royal Society. She significantly contributed to the study of monocot plants and comparative plant anatomy. Her work helped shape modern botanical taxonomy and plant developmental biology. #TETTRIsEU

Did a talk at @thebotanics.bsky.social herbarium seminar on collectors and expedition identifiers yesterday. Feedback so far has been around "How do I check my records?" which is positive and engaged, but little worrying that Wikidata is such a BIG "unknown".
