Here's a render of the densely interconnected chromatin structure, resolved by cryo-ET, from Kreysing et al. This reminds me how much remains unresolved about chromatin. That's why I'm excited to see what's new at CSHL Epigenetics and Chromatin tomorrow😁 #cshlepich26 @cshlmeetings.bsky.social

🤯 This is how much space an IDR can occupy. Often hard to picture until you see it. 🤔 Did you expect this? This is my favorite complex, Zincore. Using Cryo-EM, I could only resolve the folded core. Here, I modeled the IDRs with AlphaFold3 and visualized it in Blender using MolecularNodes.

Yes, I don't think there's much to do about it. The bigger the protein/complex, the more details it'll have in SVG. PNG is an amazing solution! 😁

In today’s publication in Science we introduce Zincore: a novel protein of QRICH1 and SEPHS1 and functions as a transcriptional coregulator dedicated to zinc finger transcription factors. Here’s how we found it: 🧵 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... 1/11

Zincore, an atypical coregulator, binds zinc finger transcription factors to control gene expression
Zinc finger proteins (ZNFs) are the largest family of transcription factors, yet how they activate gene expression remains unclear. In this study, we identified Zincore, a protein complex consisting o...

I think there is still much to learn about SRBD1, not only in mitosis but also regarding other potential functions. Its similarity to Spt6/SUPT6H continues to intrigue me 🤔
