I mostly made the ocean off limits- magic storms. The main continent is riddled with lakes and rivers from pole to pole, so there's a ton of boat travel, but usually close to land.
The ocean is full of terrors. My favorite is Basidiek, a sentient coral reef the size of New Zealand. He's cool.
