Saw a video last night that gave good advice about how to figure out pretty quickly if a song was generated by AI It takes a bit of careful listening at first, but once you pick out the artifact, you'll hear it all the time after that Listen to the vocals

Wavetable drones and a plucky Berlin School sequence, what could be better? Juxtaposed the power and uplifting nature I find in the key of Db Major against the underlying current of my complete and utter loathing for AI, which led me over the course of the past couple of days to this patch.

When I whack up the resonance mod for the sequencer layer, then that occurrence of a pseudo-missing step happens a lot less frequently Anyway, still planning on a video performance later on this evening Plan is to start with just the #drone then fade in the sequence

cutoff value, which leads to that step seeming to be swallowed and missed It's taking careful listening to cut through what seems to be rhythmical nonsense, but the modwave's sequencers are all running as they should, and no steps are actually being missed It makes for interesting listening though

running in a random order, there are moments while the sequence runs that it seems like steps (in this case, specific notes of the Pitch Lane) are being skipped, but what is happening is that one step has a really open cutoff value plus a longer delay, followed by the next step hitting a very closed

What I do still notice – and I'm having to get used to – is this: With the decay amount of my filter envelope being modulated (both lengthened and shortened) by an LFO as well as the cutoff frequency being controlled by one of the freely-assignable sequencer lanes on the modwave, with that sequence

Switched over to headphones for the final test of the new patch, and the MS-20 version is The One™ Keeping both for posterity's sake, but yeah, the sequence layer sounds *so* nice through the MS-20 filter vs. the PolySix YouTube video later tonight I believe assuming my body doesn't give out early

Down to just maxing out some modulation intensities (especially the resonance on Layer B) to make absolutely sure there's no clipping when they're turned all the way up At least in this case, nothing needs to be changed to a super-high degree, if at all

Think I figured out the source of some unwanted blips in the sequence layer of the new patch and I *believe* it was some bogging in the transmission of MIDI through the USB-B cable while I had the editor open while doing other things on my laptop

Final change made to the #modwave patch to really have it ready for YouTube and Bitwig Changed the overall pan of oscillators 1 and 2 on Layer B. Panned OSC 1 all the way to the left and OSC 2 all the way to the right (kept the sub in the middle), and that's made Layer A

Changed one more thing on this before heading into Layer B Rather than have the filter cutoff being modulated by an LFO, I stuck it on 24-step sequence in Sequence B running in random order so that every step has a different cutoff frequency

I've since changed the reverb, as well as the velocity settings, sustain levels for the amplitude, and a couple other things as well, so the overall sound is the same, but it's a bit different already than it was in this video

The short version is, I needed to know down to the thousandth of a unit how much intensity to give the decay value of my filter envelope when I decided to route it through an LFO instead of controlling it with the mod wheel The effort was worth it, because yeah, it's just fun to listen to that
