the universe probably lends itself in some way to human conscious experience, as in our conscious experience is not an arbitrary construction but somehow easier for the universe to create than other ones. emotions & sight w/ optical illusions might be low hanging fruit

Unlikely that digital computers experience relevant levels of consciousness Computers are v constrained physically. Consciousness dust. If we calculated GPT4 output by hand, the only experience there is ours (relevant) and the pen+paper (irrelevant). Not "GPT4" / "information processing"

Words are an extremely lossy projection of reality Demanding legibility is telling people to exist in a way that minimizes that loss. To conform to lives that can be easily fully described in a few words. It’s anti-cozy, anti-emergence, anti-life

science is knowledge-pagerank with the base authority being your own observations. in religion the base authority is scripture/priesthood authority of unobserved facts is related to your perception of people/institutions' obsession with / accountability to reproducibility, falsifiability, citations

what is pleasure and pain? (consonance/dissonance?) what level of pain/suffering do dish-grown neurons feel? it's probably not zero are there experiments that could test this? grow a brain on a dimply dish, eventually it learns to talk to us, and maybe it'd be down to examine this with us

feeling a bit epistemically ungrounded realizing altered states can point to weird truths about the universe that'd be hard to understand and would've propagated noisily via religion afterlife/rebirth ideas could be meant more literally than just "we're all atoms" may be related to the "ruliad"

sounds like he was just trying to describe atoms?!! given language constraints of the time you kinda just had to know him to get what he meant and then after he died it just became an entirely different thing ? www.bibleinsight.com/supper.html
