VEO 3 now available to pro users in the UK. Pretty incredible according to Ernie, although he swears it wasn't him and he's been framed. So now Ernie and I are having a chat about the positive and negative potential of video generation with AI, and responsible use.

Thought for the 16th century: Em dashes — versatile punctuation for emphasis, interruption, or explanation. Use them wisely to add punch and clarity to your writing while you can!

These days, when you're bored waiting for your wife at the opticians, you can create some pretty good AI generated content on sketchy 4G. Looking forward to delivering more keynotes and workshops in the coming months. Prompt > Image > Video (ChatGPT and Sora)

Technology can sometimes become the scapegoat for wider frustrations in work and life. Quality coaching conversations can help to unpack these and often help find solutions that stretch beyond the tech. #coaching #sketchnote

#aiineducation Thought for the day: The question is not whether AI can teach, but whether we can teach AI to teach wisely and effectively.

If you can sketch it, no matter the quality - ChatGPT's new image gen can handle the clean up for you with ease! Prompt: Take this terrible line drawing and tidy it up so it looks clear, professional and colourful. Make it print quality. #EduSky
A split-screen image showcasing the 'Sketch to print quality in seconds' feature of ChatGPT 4.0. The left side displays the text 'Sketch to print quality in seconds' and 'ChatGPT 4.0' against a dark background. The right side shows two images: the top image is a simple line drawing of a building with a clock tower and multiple windows. Below it is the output image, a colourful, clean illustration of the same building, now with orange walls, a blue roof, and a visible clock face, demonstrating the improvement in quality. A text box between the two images reads: 'Take this terrible line drawing and tidy it up so it looks clear, professional and colourful. Make it print quality

🎙️ Have you got to speak in public soon? Are you worried how you might come across? 😟 Imposter syndrome is real, right? 💡 How about using an LLM in voice mode for feedback while you rehearse? Try a prompt like this and then start speaking. #EduSky
"You are an independent ley audience member listening to me speak in a public forum on the topic of [topic].

The intended audience is made up of [audience]

I want you to listen carefully and then provide me with the following feedback:

What aspects communicated well? (why was that?)

What did not communicate so clearly? (how might I improve that?)

Was there any content that might be triggering where I should highlight this in advance? (explain)

What questions might arise from the audience? (maximum 5)

Then provide 3 creative ideas to improve the experience for the audience."

Thought for the day: As adults, are many of us too focused on being replaced & therefore dismissive? Are we overly constrained by rules & norms? Does the creativity of youth & the willingness to explore AI mean the next generation are actually more likely to make us redundant than AI itself?

Thought for the day: As much as I am optimistic about AI in education, it's important to carefully consider where, how and more importantly WHY we might use it. We certainly don't want to use it everywhere, all the time. #sketchnote #responsibleuse #edusky
This is a hand-drawn illustration with a white background framed by a thick black border. On the left, it shows hands rubbing a stick together to start a fire. Flames are visible at the bottom of the stick. To the right, in handwritten text, it says, "If we want to start a fire... WE SHOULD NOT BE SEEKING TO REMOVE ALL FRICTION FROM LEARNING!" The illustration uses a simple, direct style to convey the message that some struggle is necessary for learning.

The smart device battle rages on. I’m an advocate of teaching responsible use but I also appreciate where schools are at. If schools ban smartphones, parents lack the tools or knowledge to teach responsible use, but employers expect it…..who builds the bridges? #sketchnote #smartphones #EduSky
This is a hand-drawn cartoon asking, "Who will build the bridges?" On the left, there's a cliff edge with a schoolhouse and a mobile phone with a red cross. In the middle, three stick figures stand on a small cliff, seemingly wondering what to do. On the right, there's another cliff edge with skyscrapers and several mobile phones with a green tick. Below, in the water, are shark fins. The image implies a need to bridge the gap between education and technology.

I always enjoy delivering workshops for colleagues. I am forever grateful that I get these opportunities at Lift Schools and beyond. The session this week was a particular joy because it took me back to my MFL roots with a new AI related focus. Me siento muy satisfecho.
The image is a promotional advertisement with the title "AI is not just another tool: Making the most of AI in the MFL classroom." It features logos for NotebookLM, Quizizz, and Brisk Teaching. Below these, there's a section labelled "Reviews" with a row of stars and two positive quotes from participants. The overall background colour is a teal-green. In the top right-hand corner is the "Lift Schools" logo.

I've had a go at using #AI Studio to generate a visual story. Not perfect & it can get stuck due to community standards -scene 3 (not a bad thing at all in my book, but you can adjust the default settings if you wish). A) Wow, pretty impressive B) Hmm, how might Clifford feel about this? #EduSky

As Mustafa Suleyman suggests in The Coming Wave, whether you embrace AI or try to avoid it there is Risk as a final destination. How we mitigate against the risks comes down to contextual awareness that we won't get from burying our heads in the sand. #AIineducation
The image is a cartoon illustration showing a green road sign with two possible directions. The left direction is labelled "Risk: Avoiding AI", while the straight direction ahead is labelled "Risk: AI (M)". Below the sign, there's a stick figure scratching their head, looking unsure of which way to go. The overall image conveys the idea of the potential risks associated with both using and avoiding artificial intelligence.

Tomorrow I get to reunite with my kind of people at our Lift Schools East regional MFL INSET. As a former teacher of 🇪🇸, 🇫🇷 and 🇩🇪 for many, many years, I'm really looking forward to sharing with colleagues how responsible AI can enhance learning in and beyond the MFL classroom.

Thought for the day: Is AI widening gaps or helping to close them? With students permitted to use AI by exam boards, what are we doing to ensure all students have access to this opportunity? How are we teaching them to use AI appropriately? #AIineducation #sketchnote

Thought for the day: Should we hold technology to a higher standard than we do ourselves? Is it ok to expect tech to be flawless? When making decisions about tech, we might be inclined to insist on 100% accuracy or reject it. Is that a reasonable decision?
Sketchnote showing on the left a human being supported by another after making a mistake. Speech bubble reads "it's ok. We all make mistakes" On the right a laptop. Screen shows a 96% accurate result and 2 humans reject it for inaccuracies

Which camp are you in? #aiineducation
A sketchnote entitled AI mindsets.
On the left a teacher is chasing pupils with a net trying to catch them, accusing them of cheating.

On the right, teachers and pupils are working collaboratively on finding a new approach to assessment fit for purpose in the age of AI.

I love seeing how different versions of tools interpret the same prompt. 3 iterations from Kling 1.0, 1,5 and 1.6 for the prompt "A red smooth-haired Dachshund sitting by a fire" My immediate thought was that the dog is too close to the fire, but expert sausage Ernie says it's about right. #AI

Thought for the day:

It is vital that we teach young people how to use hashtag#AI effectively and responsibly.

For teachers, finding time to learn for themselves is hard but I firmly believe that we must invest time teaching teachers the key principles for using LLMs effectively, rather than relying on wrapper apps that shortcut the process, promise the world and often under-deliver.

We need to think bigger than just saving time.

LLMs forget what they're capable of ( a bit like humans 😉 ). If an LLM says it can't do something, don't be afraid to challenge it! I asked it to create an image of me based on what it knows about me and it said it couldn't do that. Then I reminded ChatGPT that it can search the web. #EduSky #AI
