"...Its backers were confident of obtaining this valuation just days ago, but are now frantically re-pricing to find a level that investors will be comfortable paying ahead of an anticipated ASX listing late this month". The Guardian. The level investors ought to be comfortable paying - <$0.

In Fiji, the Albanese govt will ask Pacific countries to trust its leadership on climate, while at home it considers approving Woodside’s Browse gas project, fracking in the NT’s Beetaloo and a big coal mine expansion in the Hunter Valley. #auspol www.acf.org.au/news/fiji-pr...

If it is a strategic asset for national security purposes, the Feds could simply buy it off RIO and have the existing staff run it. If RIO believe it is unprofitable to operate, the sale price ought to be modest. If it is a strategic asset, it no more has to make a profit than, say, a submarine.

A study in smugness and, as it turned out, hubris. If the question was not yet settled, regarding 'how dumb are some of your Senators', this surely proves beyond any reasonable doubt.

Interesting to have reached a stage whereby they are so confident that politicians will continue to accommodate them, that they are don't even try to sugar coat the truth anymore.

www.smh.com.au/business/mar... More than a few people have been highlighting the risks incumbent in Private Credit over the past year or two. Insiders will certainly have been aware. Yet hubris has seen some ignore the signals. Thus, sympathy for 'rich-listers' ought to be tempered accordingly.

The private credit cockroaches eating our rich-listers
Some of Australia’s rich-listers are getting burnt as private creditors get roasted by the failures of publicans and property developers. But that won’t be where the pain stops.

This is a key contradiction of capitalism. While assumptions rest on a competitive market, the tendency toward monopolisation undermines this assumption.

Beneath the bluster, the opposition again wilfully misrepresents correlation and causation to push a preferred narrative. House prices have been soft for ~6 months. FWIW, no-one who has bought a property has made a gain or a loss until they sell. Moreover, moderating house prices are a net positive.
