St Ursula’s in Danger. BBC adaptation about 1920s schoolgirls investigating a ghost, with a very young Rupert Graves too. The “ghost” absolutely frightened the life out of me. We had it on a VHS with something else recorded afterwards and I used to close my eyes while we fast forwarded the tape.

It’s bad enough you can pay extra and get retouching to remove spots, wonky hair etc. The imperfections are how your kid looked that day!

And it was great to hear Michael Kluckner open the event by highlighting the 1986 Centennial plaques - as you know, a particular passion of mine. After couple of years of research… I found 40 of them, just in time for their 40th anniversary! randomlygenerated.ca/blogs/vancou...

I attended two great events at the @MuseumOfVan.bsky.social last week. The first was the MOV’s Austerity Tour - highlighting how decades of funding stagnation has affected the museum. Ryan Hunt (CEO) spoke candidly about their struggles and strategies.

Happy Little Shop of Horrors day! (Movie version, anyway. The stage show uses September 21.) As you may have guessed by my choice of puppet, I’m a big fan 😄 These are the “don’t feed the plants” stickers I handed out at the Mission Ren Faire.

The image is of a four panel comic.
In the first panel we see Sarah, the protagonist, next to a stick figure labeled “AI”. The stick figure says, “my outputs look just like yours now.”
The second panel zooms in on Sarah’s face. Above her we see text reading “I think”.
The third panel zooms in closer on Sarah’s face. Text above her reads “you missed”.
The fourth panel shows Sarah drawing happily in a sunlit room. The text above her reads “the point”.

I tried to link the Wikipedia page, but the photo is definitely NSFW! A human-sized statue of a big red devil with a large erect penis. It was secretly installed and became an overnight sensation before the city removed it.

I finished my 100 days project to cross stitch 100 Vancouver "icons". From museums and landmarks to Penis Satan, it's a real mixture of what makes the city special 😄 It's on 18ct Aida and each picture is one inch square. (And most are technically blackwork / backstitch!)

My mum died a couple of years ago. A school friend who lost her mum decades ago reached out with a beautiful, heartfelt message. Then did it again as the anniversary approached. I was so touched that she knew what emotions would be swirling around and remembered me.
