Building on B.C.'s leadership in removing interprovincial trade barriers, I just introduced the Trade Recognition Act. If passed, goods and services legally sold in any Canadian province could also be sold in B.C., no duplicate testing or certifications required. 1/2

The Planning Area also extends south of Fort St. John into the area around Dawson Creek and to the west as far as the Beatton River. Like all land use planning initiatives, we want to know how you feel about how public land is being used now, and how it could be used in the future. (2/4)

They were smoking the fish while we were there and the smell was mouthwatering. As well as being one of Port Hardy’s biggest employers, it’s also another option to encourage everyone to buy BC.

The Hardy Buoys are on the case – to make delicious, made-in-B.C. smoked salmon. Yesterday, I had a chance to tour the Hardy Buoys Smoked Fish facility, and of course it was also a chance to buy a whole bunch of smoked salmon. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We have also been monitoring the environmental DNA present in our waters, with 864 samples showing no presence of Zebra and Quagga mussels. The IMDP is funded by the Province and our partners, including BC Hydro, Columbia Basin Trust, Columbia Power and FortisBC. (5/7)

This year, the program inspected 27,100 watercraft at mobile and roadside stations, decontaminated 170 watercraft, and prevented 6 watercraft confirmed to be carrying adult invasive mussels from entering our waters. (4/7)

Any watercraft travelling from infected waters has the potential to carry invasive mussels in pooled or standing water, which is why we tell people to Clean, Drain, and Dry everything from their boats and kayaks to their jetskis when they pull them out of the water. (3/7)

Invasive mussels have been in North America for decades but have yet to be detected in BC waters thanks to the diligence of staff conducting this program, our partners, and the efforts made by the boating public to keep BC waters pristine. (2/7)

In January, there will be a special hunt in the CWD management zone from January 5th to 31st, where hunters will have the opportunity to harvest one additional deer beyond the regional bag limit to support surveillance and response efforts. (3/4)

We have the immense privilege to live in a Province with the greatest diversity of species, ecosystems, and habitats in Canada, and the Kootenay Forest Lands conservation project will protect habitat for grizzly bear, badger, whitebark pine, bull trout, and bighorn sheep. (2/3)

Today, I had the opportunity to participate in the announcement of the conservation of 45,000 hectares of timberland, a private land acquisition led by Nature Conservancy Canada and one of the largest private acquisitions for conservation in Canadian history. (1/3)
