I’m sorry, they’re putting ads in fortune cookies now? Capitalism is starting to feel a little too heavy-handed in its imagery

Got a final review tomorrow, so that means I’m celebrating Hanukkah in the studio tonight. Not pictured: the donuts I got for my group and I to enjoy while we work

Public transit geek 🤝 graphic designer
Fantasy map of an expanded public transit system for Toronto, Canada showing subway lines, rapid transit corridors, and regional transit connections as well as local points of interest. The map uses bright saturated colours for the subway lines, darker saturated tones for other routes, and a light palette for points of interest and the map base.

Being in art school is great until you’re lugging an installation work across the city to get home in a giant ikea bag. (The work in question)

Hey so one of my longest friends made a short film last year and it’s available to stream on the CBC! Everyone should check it out, and maybe even vote for it by midnight (PDT) tonight so she can make even more awesome films! cbc.ca/shortfilmfac...

The baby raccoons that live in my alleyway managed to get themselves stuck in a garbage bin today. Managed to get them out WITHOUT getting bit

At the start of March, @studioshtot.bsky.social the group I lead, published the fifth issue of its magazine. Here’s my contribution, where I reflected on Rem Koolhaas’ 2002 essay Junkspace while stuck at Pearson airport. You can find the whole thing at studioshtot.com/issue-no-5 #architecture

One of the privileges of leading a magazine project is that you get to edit right up until the very last second (a deadline which you get to set for yourself)

It’s magazine night! It’s 9:30PM in Toronto, so enjoy a night of art making and ranting about computer glitches that produces a sick digital magazine at the end of it all

The setup: R: my normal laptop that can run CAD softwares and Google Chrome L: the old laptop I keep around because it still has Adobe CS3 and I’m never paying for the creative cloud

With the return of the CMHC housing catalog, I think it would be really helpful to look towards the 1979 CMHC Housing Design Competition, which was all about medium densities, instead of detached cottages.

I think one of the best parts of being treated for cancer last winter was the subway station I designed in a chemo-induced haze. It would have been the Kerrisdale station on a subway running under 41st Avenue in Vancouver. Not a bad result, considering the circumstances.
