1) someone else would've absolutely come up with those improvements to car design, Nader wasn't necessary for *any* of this. 2) WRT 1, what Nader "proved" with the Corvair was disproved by the NHTSA in 1972, & what was true of that car was true of just about *all* automotive design back then.

Going viral has shown me firsthand that we have become quick to vilify people from a brief clip, filling in everything we cannot see with assumptions. You could see that my hands were full. You couldn’t hear my husband offer to help or hear me tell him to eat. You couldn’t know that he was grieving or that I wanted to take care of him that evening. depends on the candidate TBH. Biden wouldn’t have gotten the presidency if Obama had gone with Bayh; Clinton was pretty sui generis; Harris had the VP nom effectively locked up in 2020, but didn’t run a good primary campaign relative to expectations. most folks are 1 & done.
