Every time I knock doors in Hillsboro, I come home fired up and ready to do more. The people of Hillsboro are some of the kindest, most thoughtful, and engaged people in the state. I also keep running into people I know. The small town vibe is INCREDIBLE... funny given how big it is.

I wanted to share some more of my thoughts on this article, and what is going on in Washington County. First off, I'm a big fan of this article. And it's not because I'm in one of the pictures in it. Seeing several of my friends and people I organize with be featured is pure joy.

I stand with @nafisafai.bsky.social, who is both rock solid on values and policies in a tough place, but also one of the easiest people in this type of work to get along with. Those are among the many reasons I have endorsed her for Washington County Chair. www.nafisaforwashingtoncounty.com

Washington County chair flips off fellow board member in public meeting

Kathryn Harrington apologized for her “unprofessional response” to Commissioner Nafisa Fai after the exchange was caught on video.

Gemma @raesunshine.cool · 15/09/2026

Why arent there any comments from Nafisa Fai in this article? It quotes her opponent, Pam Treece, extensively, but nothing from Nafisa. Y'all could have waited a few hours to get this out to get a quote from the person most impacted by Kathryn's actions.

Gemma @raesunshine.cool · 15/09/2026

Outgong Washington County Chair Kathryn Harrington just flipped off Commissioner Nafisa Fai for... leaning forward in her chair. Commissioner Pam Treece (who is the centrist running against Nafisa) sat there and did nothing. Y'all, this is getting insane.

Also, if you live in a part of the country that is not welcoming to you, because you're LGBTQ+ or because you're an immigrant or because you're being denied reproductive health care or for any other reason related to who you are, please consider coming to Portland.

I'm trans. If Drazan wins, she's going to make life hell for people like us. We're in "I might have to leave the state i was born in" territory here. We. Cannot. Lose. This. Election. We also cannot lose our legislative supermajority either. OR constitution is still discriminatory to us.

Gemma @raesunshine.cool · 21/08/2026

We're still doing this huh? Myrna led the Washington County Democrats through a stretch routine to calm down the chaos after a Tigard City Councilor (who was white) implied an immigrant coming to tigard "recently" wasn't a valid Democrat. She calmed down that meeting real quick.

Yo, we got a data center moratorium in Hillsboro!

1223

Gemma @raesunshine.cool · 27/07/2026

They're going to consider a moratorium for 120 days, which is not enough but holy moly look at this map. We've got them all out here in Hillsboro. We need a city council that will fight for us, not datacenters. Check out Diana Jackson, Karim Delgado, and Dorian Russell in November.

A map that shows all the probable datacenter locations in the portland metro area, with a large cluster in Hillsboro city limits, 3 in beaverton, and a small cluster in Portland.

I gave this presentation at the Washington County Democratic Party meeting on Wednesday! If anyone wanted to know how to influence and change state and national democratic parties, the county party is the gateway to that, and this is how you do it.

130

Gemma @raesunshine.cool · 21/07/2026

So, in order for democrats to maintain democratic liberalism, they must lock things down, throw out elected members, suppress dissent, enforce ideological purity, and rule with an iron fist? What a dumb article. Using the party as a tool and executing a hostile takeover can be said about corpo dems

The Seeds of Change slate for Hillsboro City Council. They're running to make housing more affordable, tackle the rising cost of living crisis, and do something about the data centers. Diana Jackson (Ward 1), Dorian Russell (Ward 3), and Karim Delgado (Ward 2) Vote Progressive.

At the risk of saying something controversial, maybe the nazi tattoo was a clue. It is extremely important to be antifascist at all times. There are so many ways to get a nazi tat removed if you really want to. People will cover it for free! Not doing so is a sign!
