Amongst all this backlash against men, I want to give a shout-out to the safest group of men I've ever known. Metalheads. I've been to countless metal shows, usually alone. Metalheads don't let people misbehave. If someone's being a problem, they get shut down real fast. Safest boys out there. 💛🤘

A woman is someone who: - can't wear headphones at night. - checks the backseat before entering her car. - walks with her keys between her fingers. - fakes a phone call when walking alone. - has a friend call her halfway through a date. - watches shadows to see if someone's following her.

Q: What is a woman? A: Someone who watches her drink when a man walks by. Q: What is a man? A: A miserable little pile of secrets. Having to mind one's drink in the presence of men is a nearly universal lesson learned by women of all sorts because a man's intentions aren't always clear and honest.

The image is of a four panel comic. The title reads "Poltergeist".
In the first panel we see a woman with a worried expression on her face. She says, "stuff keeps moving around my house."
In the second panel the same woman says "I'm terrified. I can't sleep."
In the third panel we see a ghost holding a candle and a pillow that reads "live laugh love". The ghost is zooming through the house.
In the fourth panel we see the same ghost hanging up a frame and thinking, "home decor is my passion".

"Not all men," huh? When I was cornered in a bar, a woman intervened. When I was cornered in a cubicle, the men didn't react. It doesn't matter that you're not a predator. If you wouldn't intervene, if you don't call out predatory behavior, you don't get to claim you're one of the good ones.

There's always a culture-war scapegoat. When I was young, it was gays. Then Arabs. Then Mexicans. Then vaccines. Now it's trans folks and immigrants. It's all a big made-up "hey, look over there" to give you something to scream about while they pick your pockets and erode your rights for their gain.

I've seen some new buildings with rows and rows of single-occupant, gender-neutral stalls treated as individual rooms that have a shared, common sink outside. I have long wanted this. Ever try to use the washroom when there's a 6 person long lineup for your gender's room and the other one is free?

At this point, transphobia has actually managed to be dumber than anti-vax and COVID denial. "I won't do what you tell me" is at least normal. The US government right now is like "hey, so I'mma burn the world down and rob you blind, but in exchange, I'll genocide these people you hate. Cool? Cool."

RadarExile @radarexile.net · 01/10/2026
People realize that if the government will throw one group under the bus, they'll do it again, and it might be you. "First they came for the..." blah blah blah. Even assholes who like the bus-throwing are starting to see the fearmongering for the distraction that it is. $6 diesel. Epstein. Iran.

Apparently people are trying to doxx Cornell’s Jane Doe. I have never felt so concerned about a Jane Doe in my entire life. I am shaken. It is so incredibly difficult for women to pursue justice. Sexual assault causes higher PTSD rates than war. This excerpt is by Rebecca Solnit.
former Marine David J. Morris, author of a book on post-traumatic stress disorder, notes that the disorder is far more common and far more rarely addressed among rape survivors than combat veterans. He wrote me, "The science on the subject is pretty clear: according to the New England Journal of Medicine, rape is about four times more likely to result in diagnosable PTSD than combat.
Think about that for a moment-being raped is four times more psychologically disturbing than going off to a war and being shot at and blown up. And because there are currently no enduring cultural narratives that allow women to look upon their survival as somehow heroic or honorable, the potential for enduring damage is even greater."

I was in my mid 20s when I realized that "profound" wasn't meant to be a pejorative. When everything that word got applied to was either hollow pretentiousness or stoner thoughts, I'm not entirely sure I was wrong.

No, dude. I just don't vibe with country. I grew up rural. I live in western Canada. My family played country in the car before I knew what "liberal politics" meant. I like rock, metal, electronic. I always did. But I don't shit-talk folks for not vibing to Halo Effect. Let people enjoy things.

The article even acknowledges the lack of monoculture, but still acts like not listening to country and being aware of this song is problematic. "It’s shorthand, often, for liberal politics and a way to separate oneself from anything that could be associated with rural or Southern stereotypes."

That's not to say I stick to the same artists, either. I've found some even before their first album. I like exploring. I find new stuff quite easily from Spotify's recommendations, suggestions from friends, etc. And, unsurprisingly, my streaming suggestions are different from what my friends get.

Maybe instead of being upset that people haven't heard a song you claim is ubiquitous, realize that in 2026 lots of people use streaming instead of radio. They won't be exposed to something just because it's "everywhere." If it's not played in public spaces like restaurants, I won't hear it. Period.

As an ace person, deciding the value of a relationship based on sex is absurd to me. "My partner is bad at/won't participate in this hobby of mine, I'm breaking up with them!" See what I mean? No? Sex is special? Alright then. Grab a Steam Deck, bitch. We're hunting Lavis Cannons or we're over.

Targeting that 1 person in 200 doesn't solve even one real-world problem you face. Anti-trans politics are a distraction so you stop demanding real change from your representatives, a crowbar to create legal precedent through which your rights will be further eroded. Here's the thing: it's working.
