Ash trees are lifelines for rare #lichens like Stinky Sticta & Black-bordered Shingle. But ash dieback threatens them both. Our team is carefully relocating threatened lichens to trees with similar bark, giving them the best chance of survival. 💚 🎥 loom.ly/sJK3tYM Footage by Ben Arthur

Nature is not a blocker to growth. The UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves has claimed that 'The balance has gone too far in the direction of always protecting every bat and every newt.' But how can this statement be true when the UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world?🌍
A thriving natural world is the foundation of economic growth and vital for health and wellbeing. Language that pits these against each other is unhelpful and deeply concerning.

[1/6] NEW STUDY - We looked at how much evidence is generated by two EU programs: LIFE and the European Regional Development Funds and found that while LIFE performed well, ERDF had significant shortcomings, with barely any publicly available documentation. doi.org/10.1111/csp2...
Summary statistics concerning the information available online about our stratified random sample of conservation-related (a) LIFE (n = 109) and (b) ERDF (n = 345) projects. Overall, ERDF 95% of our sample of LIFE-funded projects were found online with 61% being mentioned in peer-reviewed publications. There is no mention of most of our sample of ERDF-funded projects (68%) on Google's search engine and only 1% (n = 4) were mentioned in any peer-reviewed publications found on Google Scholar.

Thought I'd go with a #fungus themed first post...was really pleased to spot this Blue Roundhead, Stropharia caerulea a few weeks ago. There have been more fruiting bodies popping up in the same area recently, but they've been washed out by the rain so this remains the best and bluest of the bunch!
