It’s Pride weekend in SF Bay Area! 🌊 If you love the ocean but ignore attacks on LGBTQ+ people fighting for its future, you’re not walking your talk. When intolerance is weaponized, allies must be the shield. Pride is protest. Show up. ✊🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 🧵👇 #IntersectionalByNature #OceanHoptimism #Pride2025

In 2019, we showed that tiny, bottom-dwelling fish can fuel coral reef energy fluxes. In our new paper, we reveal a dramatic dichotomy in their functional role across coral reef habitats separated by a few 100 meters. esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.... @esajournals.bsky.social

During the last Trump administration at the EPA, we shifted from using the term ʻclimate changeʻ to talking about its effects - sea level rise, drought, atmospheric rivers, etc. I wonder how these results apply to politicized messaging?

To better understand how fishers and the seafood industry are responding to marine mammal interactions, there’s a voluntary, anonymous survey about use of and perceptions of deterrents. If you work in fishing communities in the US, please consider sharing! www.fisheries.noaa.gov/feature-stor...

"When you're 1% of the population, it's very hard to see how the democratic process will protect you" was quite a statement at the court after the TN attorney argued that the equal protection should be declined in favor of “the democratic process.”
