If you’ve ever wondered why crime is higher in majority-Black, Democrat-controlled cities, you can just look at the data. Spoiler alert: it’s not.

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.

I believe in labor unions and am a member. But many romanticize them as if they magically solve things. In academia, job cuts, restructuring, and political repression are happening at schools with faculty and staff unions. Many union members are racist and anti-leftist. The struggle is constant.

Another one. 💥✊🏽💥✊🏽 Some people may be surprised by this outcome, but as a native Wisconsinite, I’m not. We aren’t the kind of people who’ll allow ourselves to be bought and sold by billionaires. Elon should stop trying to buy democracy & find a different way to crash out during his midlife crisis.

The danger women face after getting pregnant in the U.S. needs to produce a much higher level of outrage than is currently happening. This. Is. Preventable.

$33 million and counting. That’s what Elon and company are spending to try to buy a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat. We are the solution. No one’s coming to save us. We have to mobilize and save ourselves.

In other words, the right has successfully recruited too many people into the Oppression Olympics. And we continue to lose ground on the mass understanding of intersectionality.

The left keeps getting identity politics wrong – and the right is benefiting from that | Ash Sarkar
Instead of liberation, we’ve ended up with competitive grievance, weaponised victimhood, and a focus on ‘I’ not ‘us’, says author and activist Ash Sarkar

Eventually, even ppl who voted for Trump and his billionaire backers’ disdain for the poor, the workers, and the down on their luck will realize it included them too. When this happens, the smart and empathetic thing to do is to help them. Resist the urge to participate in the schadenfreude.

Here’s what we need to accept: when the game changes, the rules do, too. What might have worked before no longer does. They don’t care about our outrage. What they care about is power, and in this country, the people have it- but people is plural. Together, en masse, right now, is the only way.

One of the most important things we can do in this moment is lean into our power of discernment. Trump’s play is shock and awe. Yes be shocked, but do not be in awe, and most importantly, focus on what’s real, and what’s not. Our power is in our focus, and then on our collective power.

My loyalty will always be with women who refuse gendered roles—of sexuality, submission, embodiment, caregiving, reproduction. I’ll never understand this impulse to scold such nonconforming women for thinking they’re too good for these roles. We’re all too good for them.
