Now I need to figure out how to get this... 😏
A post saying, "I've never related to a piece of furniture before". The post is quoting another post that says, in all caps and followed by many exclamation points, "I want nervous chair", with a picture of a wooden chair that has a wavy edge everywhere it should have a straight edge (except the surfaces the person would use in sitting on it). The effect of the wavy lines makes it look like the chair is shaking.

Sadly (but not surprisingly), they have their own version of reality over there. This was a conversation in Discord around the topic in 2024. I doubt their thoughts have become more aligned with reality since then. 😒 🤷

@Twitter Don't suppose you have a Bluesky account?
Twitter — 12/30/2024 11:18 PM
no, it's already dying anyways <and some other comments>

Not sure that it's dying. They hit 10 million users in like September and now they have 25 million. <and some other comments>

They have a major self-destruction issue with their community, and a massive pedophile problem

Anyway, looking at the covers on the Letters Page website, my favorites are Cryptic Glues and High Queen of Earth

"This year, Rodericks said, there have been over 830 CSAM cases [on Bluesky], each of which the company investigates manually. Most major social media platforms report much higher rates of CSAM. In 2023, X reported 273,416 instances of CSAM on its platforms, according to the center. Instagram reported 11,430,007."
Every social media platform has to deal with pedophiles. It's still early days for Bluesky to figure it out
Twitter — 12/31/2024 12:15 AM
Yeah, that's fine, and I could be wrong about this, but I don't see them lasting 5 years.
Most of the people that are leaving for bluesky are the people that made Twitter a horrible place to be in the first place
P2 — 12/31/2024 12:17 AM
I'm not sure the data bears that out, since Musk is the one driving them away and Musk's new policies are friendly to the horrible people. But we'll see
Twitter — 12/31/2024 12:17 AM
you and I clearly disagree on who the horrible people are
P2 — 12/31/2024 12:17 AM
Likely
Twitter — 12/31/2024 12:17 AM
I think the horrible people are the ones intentionally destroying peoples' lives
and they're mad they can't do that on Musk's twitter
Twitter became 1000x better the moment Musk took over

Hoping I can post some things from Gen Con soon, but catching up has been a challenge this year. 🤪 But I wanted to make sure that @shannonappelcline.bsky.social knew about this little gem of a cover reference I found at Half Price Books. 😀

Love that! It can be hard to give folks perspective. When I was running Nightfang Spire for friends (comically, also in 2011 😆), I built a simple structure to give them a better visual of the experience. It helped a LOT! When a villain attacked an NPC and threw them off, the PCs worried.

I love data. 😏
Text above a post with a graph. The text reads "beef in the cryptid community between bigfootcels and giant squid maxxers". The post has just a shrugging emoticon above the graph. The graph has three lines of data: "Number of cameras", "Giant Squid Footage", and "Bigfoot Footage". The first two are a fairly well-matched arc, increasing over time. The third is a fairly consistent line along the bottom of the graph over time, clearly showing the Bigfoot Footage is not related to the Number of cameras.

The Slovenly Trolls are great! 😀 Reading this entry from the 1981 printing of B2 - Keep on the Borderlands was the first time I saw a medusa in a #DnD adventure. I think it's a horrible entry on _many_ levels, including referring to a female as "it" and using her appearance to trap/kill PCs.
An image from the 1981 printing of B2 - Keep on the Borderlands of an entry for a location identified as "64". The full text is below, but some of the text is highlighted: "scantily clad female - a fair maiden obviously in need of rescuing!", "only her shapely legs and body up to the shoulders can be seen.", and "actually a medusa".
Full text from the image:
64. CELL : The door is of iron, locked and barred, but a window is set in the door. This is the place where prisoners ore kept until tortured to death or sacrificed i n the area above. There are several skeletons still chained to the wall, and one scantily clad female - a fair maiden obviously in need of rescuing! As she is partly around a corner, at first only her shapely legs and body up to the shoulders can be seen. Those who enter and approach closer ore in for a rude shock! This is actually a medusa recently taken by the evil priest's zombie guards. (AC 8, HD 4**, hp 20, #AT 1, D 1-6 plus poison, MV (30'), Save F 4, ML 8.) An opponent hit by the medusa's attack has been bitten by the asp-hair and must save vs. Polson or die. Persons looking at the creature - including those fighting her from the front - must save versus being Turned to Stone by the medusa.
Not being above such things. the cleric had plans for removing Its snakes. blinding it, and then eventually sacrificing it at a special rite to a demon. The medusa will spare one or two of the adventurers from her gaze. Promising them she has magic which will turn their companions back to flesh again, if they will free her from her chains. She does, in fact, have a special elixir*, a potion of stone to flesh in a small vial, enough liquid to turn six persons, who have been turned to stone, back to normal. but she does not intend to give it away. If freed she will attempt to "stone" her rescuers.

There's a lock hidden in the boxed set of books (because of course there is 😆). The magnet we used is so strong the door will never open if it's in place. A simple twist, and it's unlocked (although there's still a friction latch to ensure it doesn't just swing open when it shouldn't). (4/5)
