Got up today, looked at the news, looked at the inboxes and meetings, and found that 'No Children' from Mountain Goats was queuing up in my mind for today's background soundtrack.

I've been out of the loop quite a bit with FF14 so I only realized now that Evercold's lead story designer is Ishikawa, and this doesn't bode very well for me and that expac.

How in the world did the Autumn Equinox sneak up like this.

Had a good conversation with an older (60+) gay coworker recently where he led off with the line of, 'the younger generation doesn't know how good they have it' which you would think was just a cane-waving moment -- except his baseline was that we know what AIDS even *is* today.

All right, yearly flu and covid booster done, now to see if I'll get knocked out from side effects or not. Sadly while I was there, an elderly couple trying to also get their own yearly vaccines were both getting denied because their insurance didn't want to cover it. :/

Having a lot of thoughts this week about the various levels of nuance (including generational) about the Western use of calling *all* wlw / mlm content yuri / yaoi as a default label, outside of the genres themselves. There are definitely layers, esp if you've dealt with media before 2010-ish.

Rabbitprint @rabbitprint.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

I'm *extremely* delighted that Our Darkest Days looks like it's not only keeping its current customization sliders, but will keep adding on more which tackle specific stressors in a very thoughtful manner; it's honestly one of the most accessible survival games I've come across in a long while.

There are already articles circulating trying to rewrite history and say America was great after 9/11 and united and thoughtful and just a reminder that that period was marked by intense and insanely racist hatred, paranoia, and a frothing desire for unhinged violence and oppression.

I am so excited to see all these Valheim streamers throw themselves enthusiastically and with such joy into 1.0, and I'm so glad for them too -- I love the game, but they are folks who live it, and they deserve all the delight in the world for the delight they encourage in turn.

Congratulations to the Iron Gate team on Valheim’s 1.0 launch! Fun little fact: on our studio’s internal Discord server, we have a channel for every discipline: #dev, #gfx, #sfx, #marketing, and so on. We don’t have a #design channel, though. We have #valheim. Because Valheim has the best design.

Valheim Deep North in just a few minutes, Mogtome PVP season in FF14, and focusing on one draft that's at 70% and slowly pulling its closing themes together; it'll be a busy week.

This entire week has pretty much been a wash for productivity thanks to this flu, but (fingers crossed) it finally feels like it's turning the corner, so maybe I can catch up this weekend.

Reviewed the upcoming mogtome list and I can safely say that it's a good thing I like pvp because at least 4 alts are going to be fed to the grinder.

'Nobody Speak' was released 10 years ago, but it's been painfully relevant for each of those years (particularly at the 1:16 mark) and is still on my regular list: youtu.be/NUC2EQvdzmY?...

One example of the nice accessibility features in Our Darkest Days is if (like me) you get easily stressed by constant zombie background noises and surprise attacks, you can also turn detection up to max to activate every zombie right away -- which makes the level thankfully quiet afterwards too.

I keep pairing player characters with antagonists in Our Darkest Days, which is normally great, except that now I can never get them out of Walton.

tumblr is having a great one about this, little masterpiece of a post I'd say

first post reads: Pro-censorship wattpad refugees drama is so funny to me because when I started using ao3 as a kid I was a devout mormon and I thought that reading anything even remotely pornagraphic was a sin and would ruin my life. So when I was 13 and found ao3 I went "oh awesome I found a fanfic website with a filtering system so I won't ever randomly stumble into porn. This is great! I was really worried about seeing something I didn't want to see on the other platforms." I didn't read any smut online until like three years later. If a mormon 13 year old can figure out 'don't like don't read' wattpad users can too cmon you guys i believe in you.
reblog reads: "you're less internet savy than a 13 year old mormon" is a diabolical thing to say to someone, I support it

I have an extremely large amount of things to say when it comes to the last repost, but the shortest summary I can make is that establishing an equivalent estrangement from my parents has been -- and remains -- one of the best and healthiest choices in my life, and I strongly recommend it as needed.

Several characters are shown as eligible for limit cap improvements, and all at the base level of zero upgrades. The sole exception is Igor, who stands alone as already being maxed out to the highest level of five upgrades.

I was putting together some thoughts for a manga rec and thought about importance of consciously identifying what goes into the word 'wholesome' rather than leaving it nebulous, because of its associated use in being a metric for both 'kid safe' and 'morally good' -- and also excluding queerness.

Also, every time I run into someone pro-AI as 'an intelligent tool' who then reacts with negativity bordering on revulsion at the thought of it gaining agency and self-empowerment, I have to wonder how they manage to miss the *extremely telling thing* about this.

My apartment complex's asphalt work is doing an interesting game of rotating affected parking spots but keeping them closed for longer than other spots reopen, meaning that I and all my neighbors are having the opportunity to meet each other in unexpected vehicular ways.
