Tech Temple Chalk test I tried recreating my techno temple piece but this time I tried using chalk instead of pencil for the atmospheric fog. I’m learning that the scanner is very sensitive to the chalk. It took a lot of tinkering to lower the brightness to a point where you can see anything 😅

I finished my art course! I've basically just been crashing the last few weeks, it took a lot out of me. But I'll try and post some more of the stuff I've done soon. Here are some test pieces I made for the comic project I've been working on. I used ink, watercolour, and coloured pencil for both.

A test comic page with three panels zooming from a triangular doorway with seaweed spilling out of it, to a city of colourful ziggurat or pyramid like buildings, to a longer view showing the city to be in the middle of the sea. The three panels are arranged vertically and in increasing size to mirror the shape of the buildings. The third panel forms the background of the page, with the horizon placed where the panel border would typically go, and the cloudy sky visible around the other two panels.

A couple of older pen drawings I'm still quite proud of. The one on the left was an experiment with some cheep coloured pens, while the one on the right was an experiment with stippling and crosshatching (inspired by classic Sci Fi artist Virgil Finlay).

The vampire has quite stylised angular facial features with a bald head, pointed ears, and full red lips, and is wearing a high collared cloak with a red jewelled broach. The drawing is dated to the 6th of December 2023.

The piece is shaded using several different techniques. Stippling was used for the walls around the window, the highlights on the hands and the shadows on the whites of the eyes. Hatching was used for the bars and the irises of the eyes, and crosshatching for the shadows on the hands. The drawing is dated to the 6th of August 2024.

A couple of faces. The pigments in the green pencils I was using for the one on the left didn't blend very well for some reason, so the texture is a bit off from the rest of the piece.
