There is no stopping Russia when Trump keeps giving them favors. Oil was at 50 usd per barrel before the Iran war. Now they get to sell at double the price. Complete joke. The US will not be viewed the same for a generation or more. Incompetence.

Anyone mentioning 'seasonality', 'cyclical', 'midterm year' etc. has caught the wrong end of the stick for quite a while now. This relentless bull will likely take a break (NQ just shy of 200% in +- 4 years), when the coast is finally clear. Nobody knows anything, but the water is still 'warm'.

Inverted axis. Bottomed when Trump started his great Iran war. You'd have to be mad to sell this, and staying long comes with the extra pleasure of seeing Trump and Bessent try to blame anyone but themselves.

Early 2010s a million felt like it would get you quite far in life... now? Not so much. A good economy but, from a purchasing power viewpoint, mostly if you own assets, not live from salary to salary.

Personally don't think anything is about to burst, but just going by historical norms, the post GFC business cycle has been very good to investors return wise. New normal? Perhaps. I lean more towards returns, and earnings growth, going down in the next couple of years. Markets been in easy mode

I feel like AI fact checkers would be such a great thing. If himans can't be trusted, let both parties agree on a 'neutral' model, implement it and let's hold politicians accountable. If only...

Low frequency index or algo trading. We would need to see performance if passing on I side knowledge is likely. That being said, I'm sure the guy has enriched himself way more through other less public venues.

No, because it will get tarrifed. China played that game for years with Europe, so Europe can play that game too. Want to sell into the EU market? Produces locally, create jobs and transfer technology.

These people get to lie every day in front of a camera. Beyond parody.

My question was mostly rhetorical. If there are no consequences to breaking the law, there might as well not be a law. To expect the president or his administration to abide the law sort of hinges on laws carrying any weight.

Quant T @quantstuff.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
What does law abiding really mean if laws are not enforced and the President is untouchable? Laws for thee, not for me?

I remember seeing these kind of empty seats before the 2024 election while Kamala was full stadium. Yet, Trump still won. This means nothing. People going out and bothering to vote does.

I mean you got Elon Musk virtually appearing at Afd rallies. Whatever a lot of Germans want is also what a lot of Trump circle wants,l. It will likely end woth the splintering of Europe. C'est la vie.

We've seen with Russia how well that works. Setting themselves up for more failure.

Trump is as stupid as they come really. That's the explanation. Contempt for allies, praise for dictators that offer his family lucrative deals. Pure self enrichment and corruption.

Talk about selling yourself cheap... there's a cost to being 'not interested in politics'. That cost is not small in Russia's case. It could be a huge economy, yet the leadership invests it all in missiles and oppressing its own people

Russia is going to evolve in North Korea 2.0, just on a much bigger scale. The rot is so unbelievably deep it will take generations to wash it out, if ever. To me, Russia is a country of missed opportunities. It could be so much more, yet its people seem to always gravitate to dictators.

Useful context would be that most of the big declines in the past 20+ years started when more than 70% of the SPX was above the 200-d (second chart, lower panel).

Socialism will make a huge return in the 30s in imagine. The GOPs blatant corruption, mismanagement and catering to the ultra wealthy, with AI pressuring the labor market, fertile grounds for it at least. There won't be any immigrant or transgenders scapegoats either at that point

Despite this slowly becoming consensus in the West, surprisingly little solutions are proposed to effectively counter it. Like deer in headlights Europe seems to be ok with China grinding away it's entire industrial sector.

Yeah but how do you appoint the right people when you've been given the job because of your ideology and loyalty, not your competence. Idiots don't typically surround themselves with smart/more capable people.

Schengen is not made for a continent facing a migration crisis. I'd think the backlash traditional parties have been getting over it and the rise of the far right made that abundantly clear by now? Europe's border is its weakest link.

Open source models are the future for any company wishing to preserve IP. Databricks CEO: "We host open-source models such as Kimi and offer them to our customers. Demand has been so strong that we are running out of GPUs across multiple regions....We need to acquire a large number of GPUs"

While living in arguably the best country in the world by a lot of metrics, the populace has started taking things for granted while simultaneously looking to blame the rest of the world for not being in an even better position. Trump will long be remembered, and maybe more so abroad than in the US

Love this guy. Always has a "bullish stat". If thing x happens, 90% odds y will be green. The fact he never properly benchmarks anything is a bit annoying. Like, what do you do with all his stats? Conclude index goes up most of the time? We already know that.

Not a single ballistic stopped. In its 5th year, it took a clown like Trump to completely starve Ukraine of interceptor missiles.

That coin is a distraction for the real grift the Trump's have going in crypto (World Liberty Financial USD). Want to get Trump favors? You park some cash in WLF and let the Trump's run off with the interest (e.g. see the Binance founder pardon).
