Warming planet = more methane 🌍 New research shows microbial emissions from freshwater will rise with temperature—and “good” microbes can’t keep up. A worrying feedback loop in our climate system. www.qmul.ac.uk/news/latest-... #ClimateChange #Methane #Science

If you're melting, take comfort: even fruit flies are apparently over this heatwave. 🫠 A fantastic new study shows how #Drosophila larvae have repeatedly evolved to pick their perfect temperature, essentially "fine-tuning" their comfort zone. Read more: www.qmul.ac.uk/media/news/2...

Scientists from @mpi-nat.bsky.social & @qmul.ac.uk cracked the code on ion channel currents with atomic-level accuracy. As Dr @wojciechkopec.bsky.social says, this "opens up entirely new avenues for studying physiology and developing therapeutics."

Huge congrats to Dr @gmogull.bsky.social for co-leading this new paper in @nature.com on #blackhole scattering. The team's found some truly mind-bending connections to Calabi-Yau manifolds using quantum field theory in classical gravity: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
