Hey, at least it’s mot just the trolley network— Memphis’s entire transit system hasn’t fully functioned in a decade!

This is my beef— there’s so much green space right across the street from the Gardens, I don’t see any reasonable obstacle that couldn’t have the train station here, as part of the community and not forced short car rides, unnecessary bus transfers and crossing 130th

PYZC - A. Philip Railroad @pyzc773.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Honestly, looking at the map, I think 130th is unfortunately going to be pretty sorry as a bus terminal. I only see the 34, 353 & 358 going there, sans any new routes

This should be a surprise to no one, tbh. In fact, controversial opinion, but a park & ride here is minor necessity since the station won’t serve Altgeld properly (although it should be a garage + housing, not just a surface lot)

Building anything other than huge housing development with ground floor retail (like a supermarket!) would be a huge mistake.

This article is a great example of why the $1.1b in funding for the RLE would’ve been better served investing in the feeder bus network on the Far South Side (among other avenues). No need to drive to 95th if your bus comes every 10 mins or better news.wttw.com/2022/11/11/p...

Park & Ride Disparities Leave South Side Red Line Commuters Without a Spot

This project is happening in large part because of perceptions that A Promise Was Made and not doing it would be Breaking Trust, with some of the poorest areas in Chicago. We need to be able to have hard conversations about when a promise is no longer the optimal solution. And that's really hard.

Right now, I’m headed to Boston— entirely on public transit. 4 bus rides, 3 train rides, 4 different agencies, nearly 12 hours and some definite tight connections. Wish me luck!

Yeah, they want an infill transfer there. Some people have said to just walk, which I think is a little blasé, but more importantly, anyone who needs to make that transfer is likely someone who’s refuses to take the bus for no good reason and as such, I’m not inclined to cater to them in this way

Reddit is discussing how there needs to be a transfer between the Blue & Pink lines and there are some legitimately peeved comments that this doesn’t exist, but I feel like in terms of missed CTA connections, this one is just way out there in terms of necessity

Benefit of my not being from here is that I’m strongly against NY exceptionalism & have honed my ability to discern between fake & real challenges here. Shutting down half the subway overnight, even for a good reason like achieving SOGR, is a *real* challenge, to which this proposal isn’t a solution

A Schedule straight up nukes the QBL instead of running all local or all express, only taking 2/4 tracks out at a time. Not saying th way MTA address maintenance backlogs is the most effective now, but this feels like when all you have is a hammer…

PYZC - A. Philip Railroad @pyzc773.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
Various places to start with this, but this is like straight up politically and operationally infeasible. The land takings alone needed to expand depot capacity to actually park trains instead of leaving them on express tracks or in service would immediately snarl this. The bus operator costs too…

I agree but I’m not sure that this is an equipment thing— they have the trainsets & operators to do this service on the weekday. I can’t imagine that’s the limitation that prevents hourly weekend service

PYZC - A. Philip Railroad @pyzc773.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
I’m loving this new Metra Rock Island schedule… for the weekday lol— why are we still consigned to every two hour service for the weekend? Weekday off-peak and weekend demand is not that drastically different! I’d rather more thru-trains if it meant hourly or better service than this

PATH can move more people, faster and is better integrated with the transit networks on each side. $6 is such a nominal difference that this argument is basically why don’t we prop up this failing service (the ferry) vs improve the mediocre one with good bones (PATH)

This somewhat reinforces my personal opinion that bus electrification is not really working out for any medium-to-large scale transit agencies, and unless we’re going to put money and effort towards ETBs, we’re better off leaving it alone until the technology improves (at least for America)

My current controversial bus idea for the CTA is what all our north-south crosstown routes would look if we Torontofied them and split them in half at Congress or created an overlap zone btwn Cermak for north side routes and Lake for south side routes

Yes, a Cicero-Montrose-Kostner-Irving Park loop would be likely be easiest on paper, but still has a few logistical issues. Chief one is suitable layover; unlike with say, 47th Red, there isn’t a dedicated space at Montrose Blue, so any bus would just be laying over in the travel lane
