Nearly every general-purpose programming language is Turing complete. So ask not what you can do with a language, but what a language makes worth the effort. A short note on "effective expressiveness": www.inkandswitch.com/malleable-so...

There's quite a lot of next-gen stuff that's a little out of sight at the moment, you'll have to bear with us while we get it organized. Right now @orionreed.com is focused on these things.

We need to publish some written material, is the short answer, but the code is up on our GitHub if you’re feeling adventurous.

Have you looked at the idea of "legacy games"? They're quite an interesting design space where the game's rules explicitly evolve from session to session.

Paul and I had a long conversation about this exact topic. What would the "keywords" be, how could you expand the set at runtime, and so on... I think this concept is quite promising but needs some elbow grease to see if it's more than a mirage.

Ah yeah, that is mostly @paulsonnentag.bsky.social stuff! It deserves a whole talk (as do most of the other segments there) and is still pretty raw. It comes out of searching for different ways of composing software capabilities and is inspired in part by card games.

Thanks, Andy. We definitely overstuffed the sausage on this one (there was just so much new work we wanted to share), but we can go into more detail on any of it with lab notes & essay content.

so what’s next: we’re going to see a Cambrian Explosion of verification tools to help model the internal and implicit structures of code we’ll see higher levels of abstraction that are easier to inspect, track and reason about for humans. models of a project’s internal structure we learn like maps

I've read that telegraph operators had a kind of "hand" that was recognizable. I feel the same way when I read someone's code: the way they name variables, or structure a file. They show me a little of who they are. I think those days are passing now, and I feel a little nostalgic about it.

Thus far any tonic suitable for a G&T has made a fine E&T for my palate. I expect someone online has opinions about pairing Yirgacheffe with tonic from a particular varietal of cinchona bark.

I think a lot of the AI space is dominated by hot takes because the time it takes to write something thoughtful frequently exceeds the period where that information is accurate.

That said, hydroelectric dams have the benefit of providing inter-seasonal energy storage by (literal) construction, and a regional energy portfolio for a circumpolar nation obviously needs to take that into consideration.
030
pvh @pvh.ca · 30/03/2026
What's more, the "levelized cost of energy" (LCOE) which represents the all-in cost of producing energy for our new Site C dam ranges from $40 to $125/MWh (CAD), comparable with grid-scale solar in the region at $75/MWh.
100
pvh @pvh.ca · 30/03/2026
British Columbia's history with hydro-electric is chequered. Construction of dams floods arable farmland and displaces communities. That was true in 1972 with our first dams and is true today with the new "Site C" dam as well.
120
pvh @pvh.ca · 30/03/2026
It's a relief to live in a region whose primary energy supplies are provided by hydroelectric dams. Relying on renewable energy doesn't just reduce the rate of climate change, it can protect against energy market supply shocks.
