As if a sign from the universe, she heard the low sound of Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing by Stevie Wonder playing through the speakers dotted around the restaurant. The memory of her dad grabbing her mum taking over her vision, watching him pull her into him as they danced around the kitchen. Her mum’s chocolate brown eyes sparkling with the love she had for her dad as he twirled her around, dipping her down, much to her delight as the sounds of laughter echoed around her, fading away as the memory slipped away with the wind.

How bittersweet that the happy memories of her childhood would only be remembered by her. That her parents ceased to exist and in their place were Wendall and Monica Wilkins, strangers who had no idea they had a daughter out there. The guilt of what she had done began to weigh on her settling into her chest, reminding her that no matter what she did, the people she loved always bore the consequences of her actions–no matter how well placed her intentions were.
