Looks like it does, technically speaking, work if I use a third-party server. Here it is with XWin32 5.40 on Win2k.

It's been over a week since my last spoopy stream, but living on #CripTime means you can't always keep up with "seasons" as they pass. C'est ma Vie. :WheelchairPunk: Anyway, planning on #GoingLive on #Owncast in about an hour to play Alpha Polaris: A Horror […] [Original post on kind.social]

Alrighty, in about half an hour I'm planning on #GoingLive on #Owncast to play Devil Road Run for PC! This is one of only two new games I've bought this year, and the only one of those I haven't played yet. Come heckle me in the chat as I repeatedly get caught […] [Original post on kind.social]

A ridiculously long Sound Blaster 16 MCD sound card. About half of the card is taken up by controllers and connectors for various early CD-ROM drives, none of which are in use. A DreamBlaster S2 is attached to the wavetable connector

In about an hour I'll be #GoingLive on #Owncast to finish my playthrough of Hexen II on my Win98/3DFX rig. With all of Eidolon's Dark Generals defeated, it's time to return to Blackmarsh and take on the Big Bad himself. Kind of an odd time, at least for a […] [Original post on kind.social]

After a frustrating experience trying to write on a laptop, my mom asked for a typewriter. Hope it survived shipping!

A Brother ML100 electronic typewriter, just unpacked from a shipping box. It has a few scuffs but looks to be in overall good condition

It's a bit late (unless you're in AU/NZ/JP time I suppose) but I'm figuring on #GoingLive in about an hour to continue my playthrough of Hexen II. Yesterday I got through the Egyptian-themed hub Thysis and started on the Greco-Roman Septimus. Tonight I'll finish […] [Original post on kind.social]

Alright, in about 45 minutes I'm planning on #GoingLive on #Owncast to continue my playthrough of Hexen II. Last week I got through the first two hubs, the medieval Blackmarsh and mesoamerican Mazaera. This time I'll be taking on the ancient Egyptian-themed […] [Original post on kind.social]

Alright, it's Friday night and I think it's about time to get going with the spoopy stuff. Raven Software's Hexen is pretty much my all-time favorite DOS game, and I'll almost certainly be doing another playthrough of it for DOSember. They originally wanted to […] [Original post on kind.social]

Spent awhile today getting reacquainted with #Graal, a 2D MMO I wasted inordinate amounts of time playing in 1999-2000. A couple of the clients are preserved, along with a few early versions of the server. I've thought about setting up a server on #CGHMN but I […] [Original post on kind.social]

This came as a bit of a shock: flashpointarchive.org/view?id=b326f… Logical Journey of the Zoombinis, a puzzle game that came out in 1996, had a playable preview of one of the levels on its website! Must have been one of the first. #RetroGaming

For awhile now I've been a little worried about how much power my #CGHMN #RetroComputing #HomeLab takes - five machines running encoders, hypervisors, databases, and fileservers. Decided to hook a wattmeter up to it and, surprisingly, it's only drawing about 150W. Not nearly as bad as I had feared.

Still playing with old #RealPlayer stuff. I managed to dig up the original Real proxy server on an FTP site. With a little fiddling I was able to get it to run on modern Linux! archive.org/details/raproxy It's called "RealAudio Proxy 3" but it works with […] [Original post on kind.social]
