A good thing about retirement is that when the dogs wake me to be let out at 4am, and piss about for so long out there that I am completely wide awake , I do not really care. No work to get up for. I can doze back off or have a nap later :)

Looking back from my early retired position, I am realising how much of my life was looking at the clock yearning for the work day to be over, then feeling tangible relief when it was. Even jobs I enjoyed. The persistent scrutiny for value.

Been mostly retired for 15 months now. Not having to work is amazing. Being able to work if I fancy is amazing. I haven't really filled the work hole with anything so I'm treading water. That's not so amazing. Ive started my viking death clearance so that's something :)

I worked for a high profile senior executive who was discovered to have lied about his credentials and achievements. He was just fired, quietly. Those of us who knew were asked, not ordered, to not gossip about it. He was white and middle aged. I guess the rules were different.
